The Solomon Islands archipelago in the Pacific was hit by a 7.2-magnitude earthquake today, less than an hour after a 6.5-magnitude temblor triggered a warning of possible local tsunamis.
The quake hit at 9:36 a.m. local time (4:36 CST) about 103 kilometers (64 miles) south-southeast of Gizo, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The earthquake was 30.5 kilometers deep.

Did he ever tell any war stories of his experience there?
That is a big one.
I think that you always get a triangle except when you get a line.!!!
Consider that close to an axiom of Flatspace geometry which holds true in 3 dimensions also....
That may be bigger news than the earthquake....
Any ping to a thread of the tsunami that hit Solomon yet.
I had a wake/sleep/wake filled night uhg.
So I see a 7.9 hit and a blip on Fox about a tsunami that hit really hard on a Soloman island like 1000 people homeless (basically wiped out the island if I heard correctly).
Been quite quakey in the lower world latitude this last few weeks.
And a few US/Mexi border area shakes.
Hopefully post blue moon things will simmer down to dullsville in the quake world .
I half expect an offshore here on the Oregon Coast (usually 4.3 ers and 200 plus miles on the souther end of the Coast so no worries for the coast dwellars esp those who have lived here foreever just to now find out via the science folks what areas are full blown tsunami zones.
So not like they moved in knowingly that a history making quake would wipe them all out.
On the area KV and I live our lil piece of property/heaven is the only spit of land along the water that is a safe haven from a catostrophic event.
What a good feeling, as I prayed hard for a year when deciding where our life long home would be.
Wish I could have my heart ears open all that well more often when asking the good Lord for guidance.
The book is probably out of print by now.If a person looked hard enough you could find one used. He fought with the 1st Marine Division at Okinawa and was badly wounded. His detailed story on the battle of Guadalcanal is better than any I have seen anywhere else.
Godzilla awakening?
R’lyeh rising?
Here is photo of him setting out on patrol on Guadalcanal in 1942. He is the Marine in the lower center of the photo, sitting down facing the camera with both of his hands behind his head. This is a famous well circulated photo but I actually have a more detailed copy at home.
WOW! What a picture.
