Huh? I thought they must have done that because that’s what Cheney wants Obama to do now. So they gave Richard Reid all Constitutional rights, gave him a civilian trial and didn’t waterboard him or execute him. It’s kind of funny Cheney would criticize Obama for doing the same thing with this guy.

Do you know how many terrorists were tried by military commissions under Bush/Cheney and how many were executed? I bet a whole lot more than Obama is doing.

Going from memory, I can’t recall even a single execution, from military tribunals or civil trials.

I noticed Lieberman stating that the crotchbomber shouldn’t get civilian criminal justice treatment, Miranda, etc.

And that is more/less the concept raised by Cheney.

But the facts on Reid and possible others doesn’t give them much to go with.
