Willie's World: Homeland security chief takes responsibility
SF Chronicle ^ | January 3, 2010 | Willie Brown

Posted on 01/03/2010 5:55:02 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

Homeland security chief Janet Napolitano made history during her stay in San Francisco last week when she did what the Bush administration never could: She took responsibility for a mistake.

With the Transamerica Pyramid in the background, Napolitano admitted that it was a total breakdown of both our intelligence and transpiration security operation that allowed suspected terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to board a Northwest Airlines flight to the United States, putting 300 lives in jeopardy.

It was a flagship first for the Obama administration, having someone that high up come out so quickly to say we messed up. Napolitano's actions immediately made the administration look better and made air travelers feel better. So kudos to her.

Bet Rahm called him up and asked him to write this puff piece since Willie usually does make some sense with his columns, unlike this one.

I thought Willie - who is corrupt but pragmatic - would be better than this.

Actually, one of the problems with the Bush administration was that they were out there 24/7 wallowing in apologies and accepting guilt for media-charged crimes and changing policies accordingly.

The thing that PO’d the media, however, was that Bush would never say that going into Iraq was a mistake (because it wasn’t) and this for some reason became an obsession with them.

But aside from that, praising the Nappy idiot for her lame, politicized response is completely insane.

Giving the Obama administration credit for another apology is like giving Tiger Woods credit for boosting the economy, one girl at a time. “Tiger - the Great Stimulant!!” That doesn’t even count the people at the hospital and the car repair shop and the divorce lawyers and the tabloids and the .....

Wait what about Willie’s article based on Napolitano’s strong statement 24 hours earlier.

Where was that article indicating when she had zero touch with reality?

Willie is a pimp and a hustler.

Sorry Willie, I'm not buying Janet just because you're pimping her.

Nah, bro, she looks like a crazy cow.

As I recall her first statement was that the system worked. The authorities also lied about taking another person into custody despite eye witness accounts but later recanted. Observations tells us that the Obama admin policy is to lie, and if that doesn't work then, and only then reluctantly admit the obvious facts. But still lie about words being taken out of context. Has Obama yet taken personal responsibility for appointing this incompetent Napolitano? Thought not.

Kudos to her? For what? She was forced to back up and say it again by Obama and his enforcers. And then she still said she was quoted out of context.

It would appear that Willie Brown has a continuing “Special Relationship” with the SF Hearst newspapers.

In 1999-2000, the SF Examiner, a Hearst paper did not support Willie Brown and his political machine. Also, during 1999 and 2000, Willie Brown then mayor of San Francisco opposed the take over by the Hearst Newspaper organization in its attempts to monopolize the newspaper media in town. After discussions with the Hearst local people (who kept Hearst Headquarters informed) a "horsetrading" deal struck that Willie would not oppose the Hearst monopolization endeavors in San Francisco and, in return, the Hearst Organization newspapers would support him in his reelection endeavors. A lawsuit by a interested third party ensued and the transcript of the case is very revealing. Ultimately the Hearst Corporation took over the SF Examiner and the SF Chronicle. The front man in the negotiations, Tim White, the publisher, resigned and reportedly received a $6 million separation package after the civil trial.
Incidentally, Nancy Pelosi and Nancy F. had some meetings with the local Hearst organization people while Brown/White negotiations were underway, giving Aid & Comfort to the Brown pressure on Hearst.

WELL SHE HAS MADE 10 TIMES MORE MISTAKES IN 11 MONTHS than his administration did in 8 years. The next time she says anything to the public,it should be for her resignation.

Ummmm...this was how many days AFTER she said that the system worked like it was suppose to.

Nonsense. “Taking responsibility” would mean resigning her position, after making a categorical statement that the administration’s approach (and the previous administration’s approach) to transportation security is completely wrong-headed.

Responsiblity means consequences, for the person or people who made the errors. Typical of this administration and its supporters, they think all you have to do is talk.
