Oklahoma’s budget has country’s biggest deficit

Only a few months removed from being declared "recession-proof” by national media, Oklahoma faces the largest state budget deficit in the nation, according to a report given by the National Conference of State Legislatures.

The conference’s November update of state budgets says Oklahoma’s 18.5 percent shortfall for the current fiscal year edges out Arizona’s 18 percent, with Illinois, at 16.5 percent, in third.

“Budget deficit” means government has spent too much and is employing too many people.

Solution: lay off government employees and slash spending.

Not going to happen. look no further that what has happened to the Federal Government in D.C.

Governments at all levels have become expanding, all controlling, punitive entities where the people now work for the government.

There is a good article in Forbes describing problems with local and provincial Chinese governments. They have sent out notices demanding advance payment of taxes due later in 2010

They might teach our state a thing or two.

Look out California businesses

. . . Oklahoma’s 18.5 percent shortfall for the current fiscal year . . .

In other words, Oklahoma is making a foolharded attempt at spending 22.7% more money than it actually has.

Yep...And in the private sector, the senior management would be fired on the spot if they operated like that.

But since those in government in Oklahoma are using other people's money, it's OK. No pun intended.

Besides, the government employees in Oklahoma have to prop up their government wages, benefits, and their lottery style retirement pensions, on the backs of the stupid tax payers.

I see private sector working Americans on their knees, as government employees cling to their backs, refusing to let go.

Solution: lay off government employees and slash spending.

Solutions are so simple and easy using just a bit of common sense.

But their agenda is not to reduce the size and scope of government...Their solution is to grow government, control everything, tax everything and regulate everything....More power...

Visualize the tax payers on their knees, with government employees clinging to their backs, refusing to let go of their government wages, benefits and lottery style government pensions...Government is not going to let go willingly.

Speaking of fools....

I bet that's how the Oklahoma government feels about the tax payers.
