Washington Wizards Reportedly Failed to Alert NBA of Players' Gun Duel

The Washington Wizards never told the NBA that an all-star player and his teammate drew guns on each other in the team's locker room during a fight over a gambling debt, the New York Post reported.

The league reportedly found out about the Dec. 21 incident after the Post inquired about it. The alleged gun duel now threatens to end not only the careers of the two players involved, all-star Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton — but also of general manager Ernie Grunfeld, a former New York Knicks star and president of the Wizards, the Post reported.

"This is gonna cost Ernie Grunfeld his job," a former NBA team president told The Post. "Because the buck stops at the top."

Well, all they did was pull guns on each other in a locker room—it’s not like they did something terrible, like express their opinions-y’know, like John Rocker, Al Campanis, or Jimmy the Greek did (all of whom were pretty much correct in their statements) They were hounded out of sports.

The players will suffer no adverse effects to their careers. You can strangle your coach and STILL get an NBA gig. This should be small potatoes compared to that.

It is ironic that the Washington Wizards changed the name of their team from the Washington Bullets.

Yup. If you are a minority, anything goes. If you are not, don’t open your mouth.

Pete Rose must have a thought or two about the gambling debt. {Pst I think it was dope, but that’s just me.)

Also ironic given the gun control laws in DC. They seem real effective, don’t they? Guess that is why DC is so safe (said sarcastically, of course).

is the NBA upset because of violations of revenue sharing rules, or having two guys from the same team on opposite sides of the shootout?

In a desperate attempt to revive the sagging popularity of professional basketball, the NBA might want to encourage players to do this kind of thing on the court.

So now they’re calling it a duel?

The team should put a box of loaded guns in the locker room for these guys to settle disputes. No fair taking the guns out of the room.

“Hey, m-effer, you done m-effin stepped on my m-effin towel”

“Dint m-effin happen, m-effer.”

“Gone m-effin shoot you m-effin ass, m-effer!”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah!”

“m-effin pow!”
“m-effin pow!”

Team News Bullet-in! Two m-effin Washington Bullets, er, Wizzers was found shot to death in the m-effin locker room late last night. M-effin poe-leece are calling both shootings accidental. It is believe both m-effin players were cleaning their m-effin guns when both m-effers went off. No m-effin charges are expected to be filed since both m-effers is dade!

He makes a good point here. I never thought of it that way.

Just wonder what the uproar would have been if these were two white guys trying to shoot each other? Probably would have been kicked out of the league by now....
