Why do these guys think they need to be armed in an NBA locker room? What a couple of clowns. It's like they didn't even see what happened to Plaxico Burress? These guys make enough money to hire bodyguards if they feel threatened.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a backer of the 2nd Amendment. People should have the right to defend their homes and such but these guys should be aware of the world they live in.
This could easily end the career of both of these guys if the reported story pans out. Unbelievable!

Thank goodness they changed the name. (extreme sarcasm)

"Ban them both for life from the NBA." That's the right punishment - after all, I'm sure both the NBA and the Wizards organization have rules against bringing firearms to the workplace. Plus, I'm sure neither player had concealed carry permits -I don't think DC even has concealed carry permits - and even in the states with the most liberal CC rules, public arenas are a no-no for weapons.
But, with the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, coupled with the strength of their player's union, there is NO WAY a lifetime ban would hold up. Look at Ron Artest who beat down a fan, or Latrell Sprewell who tried to murder his coach - both enjoyed long careers after those incidents.

Excuse me, but what are they gambling over?
To: truthguy
"Why do these guys think they need to be armed in an NBA locker room? " The paragraph in the story about the Feds looking into it, and it possibly having something to do with gambling, might be revealing. If you're into the mob for several million in gambling debts, you might want a little extra defense yourself. This of course, further bolsters my long-held contention that ALL professional sports are fixed by the mob. All of them, but especially basketball, where it so easy for a single player to determine the outcome, or to shave the right number of points.
"I'm a backer of the 2nd Amendment. People should have the right to defend their homes and such but these guys should be aware of the world they live in."
It's not just the having the weapons that's the problem - and that is a problem - it's the fact that they both brandished them.

A bullet is a rather useless thing without the proper tool.

“On May 15, 1997, the Bullets officially became the Washington Wizards. The change generated some controversy because Washington is a predominantly African-American city and Wizard is a rank in the Ku Klux Klan.”

You are no doubt correct. But a ban would give everyone an opportunity to explain their actions and present their arguments. But what may be most damaging for the players isn't the gun-play, but the gambling.
