Rush, your service to the USA is amazing. I pray for a full and quick recovery. I could care less if I ever hear you on the radio again, though I will miss hearing your voice of reason.

Good thing Rush does not need a brain...because you would come up empty with a liberal nearby.

I’m with you on that one - lack of news is worrisome.

"My guess is that Rush has either already had, or is about to have, bypass surgery"

I thought I heard he was being released today?

Anyway, I had a triple-bypass back in 92, and it really wasn't that bad at all; three weeks after the surgery I was already out and about, even driving.

I take one blood pressure med, and one .81 aspirin per day, and at 64, I'm doing fine.

I'm sure Rush will be OK, bypass is not the big boogy-bear any more that it used to be. You're a little sore for a while in the chest area, but it's more like the pain from over-exercising than surgery. Once I left the hospital (4 days) I never took any more pain meds for the surgery.

But worryisome chest pains can also be caused by haitial hernia and esophigeal reflux, among other things.

I'm not going to speculate - Rush has ALWAYS come clean with his listeners and we'll hear soon enough without believing a bunch of rumors, and I wouldn't believe the rumors anyway until Rush confirms one way or the other.

“They” are going to say he is still on painkillers no matter what.

Personally I think getting hooked on painkillers is so easy but the pain
can be so bad at times you almost have no choice. I don’t consider
this as bad a drug user that wants to be on drugs for the thrill.

Unusual southerly winds recently have covered the islands with VOG - volcanic haze.

Are you sure that wasn't DOG (Diarrhetic Obama Gas) instead? :D

Good to hear the ditto-man is on the mend.

No. He went from “serious” condition to “stable”...

Those aren’t just buzzwords, they are medical terms.

Something may have happened...but maybe it’s something that can be solved fairly easily.

It wasn’t “Rush” determining what condition he was in, it was the hospital.

"Problems with the neck can be manifested as chest pain. We know he has neck problems.

I have read where several people say he has neck problems. All I have ever heard Rush say is he has back pain. Also he said when he has the back pain he can't sit down. I don't think a neck problem would cause you not to be able to sit.

“..”I’d donate a heart to keep Rush alive,” wrote conservative blogger Dan Riehl. “Just need a knife and a liberal close by.”
We end the year on a High Note!”

A liberal has a heart?

They just have to bring Obama into every news story.

Obama is the great uniter. I think it would be nice if he made a hospital visit to Rush to wish him well.

My guess is that Rush has either already had, or is about to have, bypass surgery.

Could be as simple as acid reflux. It happened to me about 5 years ago, caused by too much Ibuprofen and Mobic for pain. Some stomach stuff went down into my wind pipe. Lucky it did not make it to the lung or I would have been in the hospital for a week rather than a couple days.

They will run a couple days of tests to rule out heart issues. Rush probably needs a going over anyway and he could need a stent or two. But I don't think he had a heart attack. Reflux or angina due to stress is my quess.

I caught the tail end of a call on Morning in America and I thought I heard Bill Bennett say he was pleased to be invited to the wedding this summer. I figured when Rush let the lovely Elizabeth bring a dog into the cat house it was serious. If you go by the long lives of his parents and grandparents, Rush should be around at least 25-30 more years.

When Rush got out of rehab, the non-narcotic drug they gave hime for the pain was Vioxx. Well, now, Vioxx has been pulled due to heart issues and strokes. I’ve been wondering what they have given him since. The only remaining CoxII inhibitor left is Celebrex and while it is a great drug for pain, it gave me a bleeding ulcer and so did Bextra, another supposedly better CoxII inhibitor. It’s banned now too so what are they giving him for his chronic pain? Celebrex? It’s the only one left as far as I know and while it does work, the bleeding ulcer is a bad side effect you don’t want.

Since I was having problems with the normal narcotic painkillers, they put me on Methadone. I was really against it since it’s what they give junkies to get off of Heroin and other strong narcotics.

Well, it turns out, Methadone is a great painkiller. There isn’t any opiate euphoria so you can take as many as you want and you don’t get high. You do however, get dead if you take a bunch to get high since it’s still a narcotic and it reduces your breathing until you die. Since this overdose possibility is no joke, they titrate the amount you use up to the amount that works.

Since you don’t get the euphoria which many people, myself included, gauged the effectiveness of a drug’s pain killing properties by the euphoria (a wrong way to measure a drugs effectiveness) and the pain www boards all talk about how Methadone saved them from taking incredible amounts of Oxycontin to straight immediate release Oxycodone and other strong schedule II drugs you get. Since you don’t get euphoria, you can give the Doctor an honest number on the pain scale (1 to 10 with 10 being the worst). I went from 8 and 9 to around 4. Another great thing is that it has a very long lifespan (over 24 hours, the pain killer effect stops around 12 hours but you don’t get withdrawals in your system so instead of clock watching for your next dose to avoid the horrible effects of withdrawals. You just take it around the time you’re scheduled to take it at and since you don’t get withdrawals, you get sleep since you don’t feel any withdrawals and it’s a great painkiller. Too bad is has such a bad rap as a painkiller.

Anyway, sorry for such as long post; I hope Rush recovers quickly and also gets the relief from all the pain he has.
Good luck Rush, we all miss ya!!!!

You’re right. The choices suck; either live in excruciating pain or take a narcotic painkiller that relieves the pain.

Of course, the downside is that you quickly build up a tolerance and Doctors are are really reluctant to up your dose to deal with tolerance; they’ll put, “drug seeking behavior” in your chart. The thing is, tolerance is well known, it’s not like they just discovered it, they’ve known about it for over 50 years and as soon as another Doctor sees the previous Doctor’s note in your chart, you’re screwed.

You just need to find a great Doctor who specializes in pain and isn’t scared of the DEA combing through their records.

He explained which vertebrae were causing his problem. I don’t remember which he said, but he did mention his neck.

My son has had the same problem and finally had surgery about 3 years ago. They do the surgery through the throat. Rush said that because his voice is his living he was reluctant to have the surgery. For my son, it was only a temporary reprieve because the pain has returned.
