I thought (and I may be wrong about this) that everyone over 65 MUST sign up for Medicare. You can have a supplemental plan, but Medicare is a must.
Does this mean that this Mayo facility will not be treating those over 65 unless they pay for the visit out of pocket?

And when you sign up....They take $96.40 out of your SS check every month.

You are wrong. Everyone gets part A(which is hospital only)but part B and D are optional and A does not require a payment.

a person must have plan A (in hospital coverage). everyone can opt out of Medicare plan B.

You are not required to sign up for medicare when turning 65. But if you sign up at a later age, your monthly premium is considerably higher than if you had started at 65.
