Obama Charts Subtler Course On Homeland Security
NPR ^ | December 31, 2009 | by Kevin Whitelaw

Before a Nigerian man allegedly attempted blow up a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day, President Obama had not dedicated a lot of time to speaking publicly about homeland security.

He didn't mention the term "homeland security" once when he addressed Congress last February, nor did it come up much in other major speeches or press conferences.

During his presidential campaign, Obama criticized the approach of the George W. Bush administration, which created the Department of Homeland Security as a reaction to the Sept. 11 attacks, as efforts "to scare Americans without telling them what to be scared of, or what to do."

"The fact that Obama has not been giving speeches with lots of platitudes in them doesn't immediately suggest that he isn't taking it seriously," says Mary Schiavo, a former inspector general at the U.S. Transportation Department. "I am hoping it means he understands it is a law enforcement issue."

Serious consideration needs to be given to finding out which states have a provision for recalling their Senator(s) and then having one of those with enough gumption to start the process of recalling the one(s) who voted for Obamacare.

Congress, especially the Senate with their six-year terms, has never really felt the anger of a revolt resulting from them ignoring the wish of the people. It's time one or more of them get that wake up call.

Force them to leave the relatively safe confines of their DC life and face their constituents! The way to do that is to make them return to their state and fight a recall movement.

Nothing else will impress them. They think they can ride out the storm until Nov. and BS their way back into office.

back to Clinton doctrine”

People have forgotten how Clinton got enamoured with all the electronic and satellite information gathering, and how he GUTTED the HUMAN INTELLIGENCE that was spread around the world.

I blame alot of our current problems on that single fact.

We don’t have “boots on the ground” who can evaluate bits and pieces of information, and who can SEE things happening in front of their faces.

If it wasn’t for cell phones taking those pics of unrest in Iran, do we think that the satellite photos would give us the picture??

I want Clinton & NObama both indicted for treason- neither has helped keep the country safe from the Muzzies.

Funny how quiet Hillary is regarding the role the State Department played in all of this, EH?

Embassy where father of Nigerian went to report his kid is under State Department control.
Visas are issued by State Department.

Bomber was issued a multi-visit Visa and no one seemed to care. Britain had it right, tho-—NO ENTRY by any method.

It's truly remarkable how quiet Hillary is these days. I wonder if something is brewing (such as her resignation)?

'Funny' thing ..... I know exactly who to be scared of ... the friends Obama surrounds himself with & those of his ilk who are determined to kill us all because we are not of their 'faith'. When I hear Obama talking about 'strong partnerships' with Somalia, et al as a method of reducing terrorism (I have no problem using the 'T' word), I have no faith at all in the government under his 'leadership' ..... and then J. Napolitano gets on the TV with her inane ramblings about the system working .... uh, wait a minute, maybe it didn't after all. She needs to be dismissed from her post. The White House fired back at Cheney's criticisms saying Obama didn't have to "beat his chest" .... well, all I see is Zippy, along with the rest of his Amateur Hour administration of thugs, perverts, criminals, & incompetents, beating America into the ground & leaving us vulnerable to anyone in the world who wants to take a shot/bomb at us.

...and by “subtler”, they mean “weaker”.

I was going to say "no course." He's just flailing his arms on the deck of a lost ship hoping a life boat picks HIM up...and leaves the rest of us to sink or take care of ourselves.

Look at you tube

The 2 and a half minute intro is a little long but relevant. Then we get to the meat. Potatoes are over.

This statement here scares the crap out of me: "I am hoping it means he understands it is a law enforcement issue."

It ought to scare the crap out of you, and every other American. It scares the crap out of me, too, because what it implies - frankly, what it screams to the world is: America no longer considers itself at war.

That's right. We have abandoned the understanding that Radical Islam is a deadly transnational enemy which considers itself at war with us regardless of how we choose to feel about it.

Instead, it's dream sequence time...

"We interrupt this Bush Administration policy to return you now to those thrilling days of Yesteryear! Remember when... Cambodia was falling to the Khmer Rouge, Iranian thugs paraded American hostages in front of the cameras just for laughs, Soviet tanks rolled into Afghanistan, and the President's wacky beer-swilling brother was peeing on airport tarmacs across the land!! Gas lines! Runaway inflation! Recession! Mindless TV shows! High taxes! Well, grab your wide-lapeled orange dress shirts and your bell-bottom jeans, because it's all coming back!!!

Ahhh, memories, memories. So don't worry about that airplane bomber-thingy. It's too complicated for you to understand fully in the light of America's vital international obligations and such, and besides, the police have matters well in hand. So just go home, crack open a beer and wait for those government checks to arrive in the mailbox.

"The White House fired back at Cheney's criticisms saying Obama didn't have to "beat his chest".

That's right! The DemocRAT Party is filled with highly nuanced experts in the fine art of reasoning with the unreasonable. The only reason their methods haven't worked before is because the wrong people have been in charge of implementing them. Everybody knows THAT!!

".... well, all I see is Zippy, along with the rest of his Amateur Hour administration of thugs, perverts, criminals, & incompetents, beating America into the ground & leaving us vulnerable to anyone in the world who wants to take a shot/bomb at us."

How DARE you!!!
