“But isn’t the killing of their children a motivation for more of them to blow themselves up against us?”
I’m not sure that there’s a whole lot more we can do to motivate them. If we REALLY want to stop ourselves from motivating them, we would need to do the following (in my opinion - the further down the list you go, the better the results):
1) Enforce laws so that Muslims are not signaled out in any way for extra security screening (such as in airports).
2) Allow mosques to preach hatred and violence against those who are not Islamic (or not the right brand of Islam), while still prosecuting other hate speech.
3) Stop killing innocent Muslims in the Middle East
4) End our military presence in the Middle East.
5) End our support for Arab governments that the bad guys don’t like (such as Saudi Arabia, in particular).
6) End all of our support for and boycott Israel (i.e., treat them like we treated South Africa at the end).
7) End our support for any other Muslim government that they don’t approve of.
8) Allow Sharia law to be implemented in the United States, along side existing civil and criminal law.
9) Give US Muslims the option of bypassing US civil law, and instead submitting to Sharia law.
10) Give US Muslims the option of bypassing US criminal law, and instead submitting to Sharia law.
11) Eliminate US civil and criminal law, and replace it with Sharia law.
12) Declare Islam as the official religion of the United States and revise our official calendar accordingly.
13) Prevent growth of non-Islamic religions.
14) Make life difficult for non-Islamic religions
15) Eliminate Pork from the United States
16) Close down all non-Islamic religions
17) Ban the Bible
18) Require conversion to Islam for all non-Islamic Americans.
[the above is pretty much the process that many countries have gone through, when converting to an Islamic society...although most of those countries have not fully completed the list]
- or Option B -
Option B: Fight them on their terms.
So, we’re at #2 (from the long list), and you’re suggesting #3, which is fine, but we have a heck of a long way to go before we FULLY meet their long-term objectives. Personally, I like Option B.
I doubt Americans would consent to mimic the Muslims’ treachery, but certainly we could have more vigor in what George W. Bush called “taking the battle to the enemy.”
