I agree that helping terrorists is not in our best interests. I also feel that the directive was a stupid reaction to a problem, and in fact was only partially responsive to the incident. The government as usual uses a shotgun approach to stopping an ant when a more pinpointed method would be more effective. I believe legitimate profiling and denying visas is in order, this political correct stuff is garbage. We are dealing with mentally ill fanatics bent on destroying themselves and the USA and more responsive methods should be employed. (I'm not talking about socialists this time). If no Air Marshalls are allowed on Amsterdam flights, then no flights from Amsterdam should land in the USA period. I want to know if the terrorist had a passport or not when he boarded the airplane.

I seem to recall a major reason for creation of the DHS after 9-11 was consolidation of resources and elimination of inter-agency... uncooperativity.

Under the Bush Administration, that might have been true - and even partially successful, as evidenced by the fact that nobody torched their underwear on an airliner while W's DHS was on watch.

It's self evident things have changed under Mr. Transparency; and instead of pursuing whatever the DHS' original mandate might have been, the DHS has apparently been reduced to a bureaucratic breeding ground for politically correct appeasement... beginning right at the top with Baghdad Butch:
