Ive already written about how his isolationist garbage leads inexorably to nonsense like this, so let me just add two points. First, and most obviously, there is no U.S. occupation of Yemen or Nigeria. The only way the airline plot is a reaction to U.S. occupation is if you accept the jihadist premise that there are no Arab/Muslim nation-states but rather only one Islamic caliphate waiting to be born. Only in that way does the U.S. occupation of Iraq warrant a reprisal from, say, a Pakistani or Yemeni. And yet, needless to say, if Britain was attacked tomorrow and Obama pledged U.S. forces to assist in the reprisal, Paul would be the first guy to scream that we should scrupulously observe national boundaries and not go fighting another countrys battles for it.

We’re not? When George Bush was asked why the Iraqis wanted us out, he said it because they’re occupied.
It just gets old because so many of you despise someone who votes for 90% of conservative ideals that you’d agree with, but isn’t a hawk (in the tradition of Woodrow Wilson). So you love McCain who’s maybe 1% conservative, and sticks it to you every time. Why argue with people who don’t listen?
I agree with Ron Paul on so many things, its too bad he goes WAY overboard with statements like this. I mean, I can understand his basic position on foreign policy, but he exaggerates to the point of being flat out WRONG, and then dips DEEPLY into the conspiracy well and takes a big fat chug. It really is a shame. Heck, I VOTED for the guy for President, back in the day, so I know Ron Paul.
Ron Paul. Just when you think he is starting to make sense, he says something that makes you say “Aw, man, what a douchebag!”
He’s a coward because he doesn’t want American military folks to die for people’s ambitions who don’t go themselves? How does not sacrificing someone else’s life make one a coward?
Exactly.
You want to try that again? Your post doesn't make sense.
Of course Ron Paul hates America. Did you watch the video, his face? Did you listen to his words?
Ever seen “Red Dawn”? What did the commies think of the kids in that movie? We’re not occupiers? Take it from this guy:

Sorry, should’ve read “...it WAS because...”
I’ll explain the general concept of “blowback” to you.
I know that most here do not agree with the concept of blowback at all. I’m not going to try to convince you of it. But I’ll explain it, as I understand it.
Here it is.
Apparently, people in some countries do not like it when their friends / family / countrymen are killed by the United States with cruise missles.
We call those people “crazy”.
They have a crazy idea that the US should not attack their country with cruise missiles. There’s a bunch of other things besides cruise missles that they don’t like. US troops overthrowing their government is another. There’s actually a whole bunch of things. I don’t know what all they are.
A lot of the things that people over there don’t like, the “crazy” ones, include US going into their country. I’m not sure that what we did in Yemen technically counts as an occupation. But we did shoot cruise missiles there.
Now, these crazy people, after we take over their countries, or shoot cruise missiles into their country, they get mad, and do stuff we don’t like.
That stuff that we don’t like is the “blowback”.
You see, some people think that there’s a linkage between when we kill people with cruise missiles in Yemen and when people are mad at us for killing people with cruise missles in Yemen and when the people who are mad at us for killing people with cruise missles in Yemen do stuff that we don’t like, usually involving airplanes. We call those people “crazy”, or “unpatriotic” or “idiots”
We all know that anyone who dares question anything the US ever does ever anywhere is crazy. Because we’re the USofA and we Rock!
Woody was the ultimate liberal (and a racist). Woody's foolishness is why Arabs hate us today. Our current president is more like Woody than any other.
The reason we don’t like Paul is because he goes on Larry King and says this trash. He gives comfort to the enemy(do you see the look on Sheila Jackson Lee’s face?), which is enough to support his opposition on the Republican primary ballot for CD 14.
We’re an empire, just not a traditional one. Unlike the Romans, we don’t occupy other lands, enslave the people and steal their wealth.
Instead, we pick a side in a fight and then get invited (or get ourselves invited) in by that side to tame the infidels. We don’t ask our ally to pay for our help though, we pay for everything ourselves. Except that, since we the living are not willing to pay, we borrow from future generations.
But hey, we’re spreading democracy and making the world a safer place, so it’s worth it.
Or is it?
Is this a legitimate question for thoughtful people to consider? I think so, and the answer isn’t as straightforward as some here seem to believe.
First, we have to consider whether we can afford this or whether we’re bankrupting ourselves.
Second we have to consider the unintended consequences of our actions.
We see these hornets nests that endanger us. There are two ways to deal with a hornets nest; eradicate it or leave it alone. Reasonable people can disagree about which policy to pursue but the third option of repeatedly beating it with a stick, while in the end possibly effective, does leave open the possibility of getting stung.
100% volunteer military
Get lost.
Volunteer to protect and defend the Constitution, not to die or be maimed for the ambitions of politicians. Don’t tell me that the Obammunist sent the troops to Afghanistan to protect the Constitution. Not even his most avid drooling groupies believe that.

You always have to watch out for those people with an anti-Bush agenda. They will piece together crap to TRY make a cheap political point.
