Candidate Rick Snyder criticizes opponent for governor Pete Hoekstra for citing attempted Detroit terrorist attack in fundraising letter
U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra was blasted Monday for using an attempted terrorism attack to raise money for his campaign for governor.
A fundraising solicitation Hoekstra's campaign e-mailed Monday criticized the response by President Barack Obama administration's to a failed attempt to blow up Northwest Airlines Flight 253 as it neared landing at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
The solicitation showed poor judgment, according to a campaign spokesman for Rick Snyder, an Ann Arbor venture capitalist and 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidate.
Grand Rapids Press File PhotoRick Snyder"It is extremely disappointing that the congressman would us a potentially tragic incident to raise money for his political campaign," said Snyder spokesman Jake Suski. "In these troubling times, words can't describe how sad it is to see an attempt to politically capitalize on a failed terrorist attack just three days after it happened.
"Unfortunately, Congressman Hoekstra's Washington style of politics isn't the answer to our lack of leadership in Lansing."
The solicitation asks supporters for campaign donations from $25 to $250. In it, Hoekstra, a Holland Republican, says the Obama administration failed to take responsibility for the security lapse and has made national security decisions that should "frighten us all."
"Barack Obama's policies may impress the 'Blame America First' crowd at home and his thousands of fans overseas, but they sure don't do anything to protect our families in Michigan or the rest of America," Hoekstra wrote

Republican vs. Republican
Appropriate?
Not so appropriate?
People are angry.
Will the money roll in?
Doesn’t look “inappropriate” to me. The congressman was trying to illustrate his national security credentials.
Crowded GOP primary in Michigan. The economy is gonna be the overriding issue in that race.
The primary will come down between Pete vs Cox.
The polls, so far, show Pete to bet the best general election candidate. However, MI still gives Obama higher than national approval ratings. Too many suburban GOP voters are moving out of the Wolverine state to try their chances below the Mason Disxon line.
Is Michigan ready for a DailyKos Republican?
Who exactly IS Rick Snyder?
Well, there were Michigan residents on Flight 253 &, if the attack had been successful, the wreckage would have littered the Michigan landscape & killed who knows how many other people on the ground. So, IMO, it's a valid & relevant issue.
Typical Democrats screaming “NO FAIR” when they are exposed for being what they are. Chickenshits.
Meanwhile my idiot congressman Mark Schauer is calling for an investigation of airport security. Apparently he hasn’t figured out that Amsterdam isn’t in Holland Michigan.
“Typical Democrats screaming NO FAIR when they are exposed for being what they are.”
Okay, is this guy Snyder some kind of RINO or what?
I have an (R) MI gubernatorial candidate in mind- Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.
IMO yes.
#3. Having a foreign born CIA director wouldn't bother you more than a foreign born State Governor?
“But they are both Republicans..”
One is. The other IMO is a Demo incognito known as a RINO.
"Rick Michigan" as he calls himself, wouldn't get my vote for anything. He's evasive in his answers and stances. He's not pro-life. He's the only candidate right now who loses to the democrats in the polls. Go to RightMichigan and look up Snyder in the search box.
Still a federal matter, not a state one.
The problem is that Hoesktra is beltway. In my opinion he’ll continue the statist quo rather than shake things up. I prefer to see someone local win Lansing.
Rick Snyder, an Ann Arbor venture capitalist and 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidateAnn Arbor has those?
