Why is anyone surprised. The NEA is a TEACHERS UNION. It exists to get the best deal for its members who are teachers. There are no students in the NEA, so the students are not part of their calculus when making decisions.
And just what does does the agenda the NEA supports have to do with getting the best deal for the Teachers? Last time I looked global warming, same sex marriage, United Nations Treaties etc. etc. etc. have nothing to do with Teachers salaries nor the guarantee of their employment.
