KAILUA, Hawaii (Reuters) - Vacationing President Barack Obama interrupted a golf game on Monday and sped back to his holiday house after the child of friends was hurt in a beach accident.
Obama, on vacation in the island state where he grew up, raced home in his motorcade in a bit of high drama shortly after arriving at a lush golf course for an afternoon game.
The child, identified by the White House as the son of Obama's friends Eric and Cheryl Whitaker, is now well and did not require stitches as first suggested, an official said.
"Eric and Cheryl Whitaker's son was examined and released from the hospital. He is home playing with his friends and just fine," said White House spokesman Bill Burton.
Eric Whitaker had been in the president's golfing party when word reached them that the boy had been injured. An ambulance with flashing lights sped past a van of reporters near the family compound after the president's arrival.
The ambulance later drove off with lights still flashing and Obama returned to the golf course to play.

Here is a link for some info on the Whitakers......
Rush Limbaugh, also golfing in Hawaii, regretted Obama's absence.
This shows what is wrong with our current health care system. If we only had insurance for catastrophic illnesses, and paid for our own minor problems, checkups, dental, etc., would anyone call an ambulance for a boo-boo? But when someone else is picking up the bill, this is the kind of stupid thing that people do. This will only get worse under Obamacare.
There's 365 days in a year but this was a "special day" and God put his loving arms around us.
Thank you God!! A good example of Good vs Evil.

Interesting - doesn’t say *where he was born* - but then again, he never grew up....so it’s a double negative.
From the response I envisioned, while listening to the news, an attack, hostage situation or some kind of assasination attempt.
(and I’ll admit, I feared for the safety of the Obama kids)

Definitely a case of over-reaction by everyone involved, including the kid.
When we were kids and broke something we cried if we HAD to be taken to the hospital or doctor. “I’m alright mom, it’s just a small bone sticking through the skin.” We’d push the bone back in, rub some mud on it and continue our tree-climbing challenge or some other ‘dangerous’ adventure.
Thank you Peter;)
LOL!!!!
Glad the kid is ok. That being said, my first reaction to the ambulance being dispatched was “Did someone almost die laughing over Obama’s spin at the press conference?”
Good grief! The child’s father is an MD—why didn’t he take care of the owie?
Chewbacca would have had to been trying to tear open a coconut in order to break one of her claws.
Remember when the courageous Hilary Clinton nearly ran over a cop getting out of DC during the powder scare?
Now, was not Obama quick to react when the abortion doctor murdered?
And the Harvard Beer Summit Professor reaction came fast.
And for what reason did Obama take over for Gibbs at the presser?
I remember having a front tooth loosened on the playground (asphalt) at my elementary school during recess. I had already chipped that tooth as well as the other front tooth and was even given a mouth guard to wear by my mother.
Of course I wasn’t wearing it and the thought of her finding out what happened scared the hell out of me. I supported the tooth with my fingers the rest of the day thinking it would grow back. It actually did!
I needed a root canal the next year, but Mom never knew what happened. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I finally got a beautiful porcelain crown to replace the dead blackened tooth that I nearly lost that day.
We were just tougher kids back then I guess.
Maybe he realizes he’s an affirmative action M.D. and didn’t have enough confidence in himself?
Rub some mud on it and it’ll be fine.
“We were just tougher kids back then I guess.”
So were our Presidents!
Yeah right,
And Ron Artest got injured because “he fell down the stairs”..the MSM are full of liars.
Not sure of the timing, needs more research.
When I was 7 or 8, a friend and I made a teeter-totter by placing an old board we'd found over a good-sized rock. We were so excited about our little invention that neither of us noticed the rusty nail in the board. Naturally enough, I was the one to discover it, badly scratching my upper inner thigh. Scratch was about 4 inches long.
We'd all heard about lockjaw in those days, and knew the treatment was a dreaded tetanus shot, which scared me more than lockjaw itself. I surprised my parents by taking my bath, by myself, as soon as I got home, not waiting for the ritual orders from them. I did take one precaution though -- I went to sleep that might with the covers clutched firmly in my teeth, figuring that if my jaw did lock up I could at least eat.
