LAGOS, Nigeria Internet postings purportedly written by a Nigerian charged with trying to bomb a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day suggest a fervently religious and lonely young man who fantasized about becoming a Muslim holy warrior.

That is so very sad, this misguided youth.

Poor fellow. Lonely little rich guy. Someone should have invited him to their home for Chrismas. It’s tough being the son of the head guy at the First Bank of Nigeria.

A rich kid from the Nigerian elite with more money than common sense. If he was poor, odds are good he'd still be in his Nigerian hometown.

"He apparently wrote of his loneliness and
struggle between liberalism and Islamic extremism in a series of postings on Facebook and in Islamic chatrooms, the Washington Post reported today. In January 2005, when he was attending boarding school, he wrote: I have no one to speak too. No one to consult, no one to support me and I feel depressed and lonely. I do not know what to do. And then I think this loneliness leads me to other problems.
I can see why the media has this response... it's their struggle too!!

Of course the natural response of lonely, religious young men is to try to blow up a plane.
Boo-friggin’-hoo.

a Nigerian charged with trying to bomb a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day LOL, so a guy like that didn't attract a lot of friends, I wonder what it could be.

Most of all, they paint a portrait of someone who seems lost and needs someone to hear him. Or a wiseass kid playing games with your head, ya stoopid media.

Another rich kid with too much time on his hands. I believe the basis of too many cases of so-called depression is a self-imposed preoccupation with one's self, and helping others is the simplest and most effective method of dragging one's self out of it. Imagine the extreme poverty and disparity between the poor and pampered in his own country, and the good he could have done there, instead of striving to be a dead hero to the psycho-islamists.
The only thing for sure, is that his lack of personal responsibility is guaranteed to continue in the torturous melodrama of our inept justice system as it plays out before us.
I'm reminded of the long-missed chief of the LAPD who fearlessly recommended the hijackers of the '70's face the appropriate adjudication: Hang 'em at the airport.

“and helping others is the simplest and most effective method of dragging one’s self out of it.”
That’s a really accurate observation. This pattern is adopted with pathological zeal by the so called community organizers. It’s an approach that without the additional ingredient of restraining moral principles leads to narcissism. The ‘dragging’ that end up happening unfortunately is towards the gutter.
