There was then sitting on the Federal District Court in Connecticut Judge Jose Cabranes with whom I am acquainted since before Clintoon appointed him. Now, Judge Cabranes is undoubtedly somewhat more liberal than thee or me but I can recommend him as at least a reasonable and moderate fellow. He became so angry at Andrew Martin Trigonis' frivolous abuse of his court that he actually enjoined Andrew from filing any more lawsuits whatsoever without FIRST providing Cabranes with a copy of the complaint and obtaining his permission to sue. I think but am not positive that Anbdrew Martin Trigonis violated the order and wound up in the federal hoosegow on contempt of court.
Finally, while the immediately previous behavior of Judge Cabranes may seem a tad extreme, he was subsequently elevated to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals (CT, VT, NY) and served (with Sonia Sotomayor) on the three judge panel that decided the New Haven Firefighters' affirmative action case there. Judge Cabranes dissented (his dissent became the basis of the SCOTUS decision reversing Sotomayor's 2nd Circuit decision. Essentially, Cabranes wrote that he could tell how Sotomayor wanted the Court to rule at the bottom line but that her decision was absolutely devoid of any legal reasoning whatsoever.
Interesting story, thanks for that.
