Jasper Schuringa, a passenger on Northwest Flight 253, who helped apprehend Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, gives an eyewitness account.
A singed pair of underwear with a packet of powder sewn into the crotch, seen in government photos obtained exclusively by ABC News, is all that remains of al Qaeda's attempt to down an American passenger plane over Detroit.

As seen in these photos, the alleged bomb consisted of a packet of powder sewn into the briefs of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian. Al Qaeda took credit Monday for the attempted bombing, boasted of its ability to overcome U.S. intelligence and airport security, and promised new attacks.
The first photo, to the left, shows the slightly charred and singed underpants with the bomb packet still in place. All photos include a ruler to provide scale.

In the second photo (below), the packet of actual explosive powder has been removed from the underpants and displayed separately.

It is a six-inch long packet of the high explosive chemical called PETN, less than a half cup in volume, weighing about 80 grams.

I watched the video and I think Jasper is a US Marshall. I know, Amterdam doesn’t allow them but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t work for the airline as a contractor.
How full was this plane? I just don’t know how this man (Jasper) could have jumped over all those seats and made it to the perp. I’m still trying to get my head around this.

It had 270-300 people and Jasper leaped at the perp from 2 or 3 seats back is my understanding. I hope you link to the many threads about this here.

You may be right. If so, I hope we never find out (loose lips sink ships). He was 2-3 rows back on the OTHER side of the plane. That’s a lot of seats to jump — adrenalen, or no.
I now hear (via FNC) that the flames were 6 feet high! For someone to have the presence of mind to know what to do, plus the athleticism to leap over all those seats (were there people in them?)and the bravery to attack flames with his bare hands is remarkable and lends credence to your theory.

You are right on all counts...thank God for those that can act clearly and instantly. He did good...I have having a problem as to why his underwear was not burned more than the pictures show, they are hardly scorched at all....
Maybe the explosive was wet
