US lawmakers favour full body scan at airports

WASHINGTON: US lawmakers favoured a compulsory full body scan of the passengers of all US-bound international flights so as to avoid the incident of a Nigerian national sneaking inside the plane with explosives.

"I would say right now we do need full body scan, especially when you have countries like Nigeria, which have inadequate security, and you have passengers transiting in Amsterdam and coming here," Congressman Peter King told CBS news in an interview.

"There is a brief violation of privacy with the full body scan, but on the other hand we can save thousands of lives," said King, a Republican Congressman, who is a Ranking Member of the House Committee of Homeland Security.

Senator Joe Lieberman, Chairman of Senate Committee on Homeland Security, strongly favoured full body scan.

"Three hundred people could have been killed and untold more on the ground in Michigan if this plane had crashed," Lieberman said referring to the explosive used by the Nigerian al-Qaida suspect in his attempt to blow up a US passenger plane on Christmas day.

"There have been privacy concerns expressed about the use of these whole body imaging devices, but I think those privacy concerns, have to fall in the face of the ability of these machines to detect material like this, explosive on this individual," he told Fox News in an interview.

“And the next guy will have a pound of it up the rump through security.”

I’m not sure, but I think those full-body x-ray thingies can pick up items secreted “up the rump”, etc.

If there’s an x-ray thing in my security line I always use that line; it saves a lot of time since I’m always screened. (I think Tampa was the last place I used one.) Even with this in place, it doesn’t prevent the bad guys from bringing benign components in carry-ons and assembling later on.

Only one answer: Profiling. Contract with Israel.

Until the time comes that the world stands united to squash the menace of Islamonazism (theocratic political rule with a violent supremacist ideological bent), this war will rage on as it has for over 1000 years.

The religion of Islam can remain but the political system of Islam cannot. It is a violation of basic human rights including a freedom of religion.

US lawmakers favour full body scan at airportsWhat a coincidence. This traveler favors full body scans before every session of Congress, lest they be hiding some anti-rights plan.

Disband the UnConstitutional FAA. Give us better access to the various types of "flying car" in existence. Moller, PAL-V, various types of autogyro...

Problem solved.

I think I’d rather deflower 72 surgeons, or spurgeons, or sturgeons. Pretty much anything.

There can be no "brief invasion of privacy". This guy does NOT belong in the US government, republican or not.

The solution to this is so simple, yet the PC morons in Washington refuse to see it. Muslims are the problem. Stop them and you stop the problem.

Yeah, but cruelty to the TSA is well-warranted.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
