EXACTLY!! in a real world it would be logical, and we would simply EXPECT a businessperson (or any other passenger in this day, post 9/11) to 1) understand the need for concern and to 2) act accordingly and sympathetically, not to lash out — and this includes those ‘mideasterners’ on flight 297 and flying imams.

Publicity and coverage, you’re right. Back in Clinton’s day, they never got any credit. They were shooting them out of the sky over New York right and left with rocket launchers, shoe bombs, whatever, and Clinton blamed pilots, faulty wiring, pigeons, whatever the media would report. Finally they did 911, pretty hard to ignore

From ABC, Food Poisoning Blamed In Second Northwest Flight 253 Bomb Scare"A second scare of a possible bomb on Northwest Airlines flight 253 Sunday was the result of a passenger who refused to come out of the bathroom because he was sick with food poisoning, law enforcement officials told ABCNews.com.
"FBI agents and local police swarmed the plane as it landed in Detroit after the pilot reported an "belligerent and uncooperative" passenger who had spent more than an hour in the bathroom as the flight neared Detroit.
Authorities said the passenger was a 36-year old Nigerian petroleum engineer who became unhappy ..."
WORDING PROBLEM: shouldn't the authorities be saying "MAY HAVE BEEN" rather than "because he WAS"??
And let's consider "normal" behavior: If you or I became very very ill to the point that we needed a long stay in the br, wouldn't we WELCOME someone coming up and asking us how we were? if we needed help?
I'll bet, too, that there was additional bad behavior on his part -- that will be interesting to see.

Despite the rantings of conspiracy theorists, the evidence that Flight 800 suffered a mechanical failure is beyond solid. If the crash had occurred during either Bush administration the Lefties evaluated the evidence the same way some conservatives have, we would mock them for it and say it was an example of Bush Derangement Syndrome.
You called it right: FOXNEWS reporting it's now being called by gov't a "non-incident."

Good points, cyn. He could have been a sick passenger that was irate over being prevented in the bathroom for the last hour, or......who knows. If he is truly innocent, he can thank his Nigerian countryman for that little inconvenience he just experienced.
