Rep. Peter King: "The System Did Not Work" Republican Congressman Says Administration Should Be Doing More to Remind People "How Deadly This Enemy Is"
By Kevin Hechtkopf
(CBS) Republican Rep. Peter King said Sunday on CBS' "Face The Nation" that the attempted terrorist attack aboard a Delta/Northwest flight on Christmas Day shows "the system did not work," despite comments made by Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.
"Earlier today, Secretary Napolitano said the system worked. The fact is the system did not work," the New York congressman told host John Dickerson. "We have to find a bipartisan way to fix it. He made it on the plane with explosives and he detonated the explosives."

In the interview, King also called for President Obama or members of his administration to use the failed attack as a "teaching moment" to remind Americans "how deadly this enemy is."
"I think it's important for the president or the secretary to be more out there and reminding the people just how real this threat was and how deadly it is," King said. "This is a teaching moment, to use the president's term. And I believe that he or the secretary or the vice president or the attorney general should be out there reminding the American people, saying this shows how deadly this enemy is. This shows how real this threat is and why we have to do whatever we possibly can to protect the American people."

Because the bomb failed to go off?
I wouldn't be surprised if that is what she was thinking...
I’m wondering what her perspective really is if she believes “the system worked”. Was it the system working that allowed him to elude scrutiny after his own father alerted the authorities to his unbalanced mental state? Was it the system working that gave him a pass at the ticket counter and access to a passenger airliner? Or perhaps the system working that let him bring explosive materials onboard?
The only thing that I understand working was the fast thinking and courageous response of a private citizen who risked his own safety to quench the fire and subdue the terrorist.
NOTHING in all of the rules and restrictions imposed onto the airline industry worked.
Nappy is a tool and we are all fools to allow her any say in our lives or our safety...
I wonder if you saw this yesterday?
I was pretty amazed by it but lack any expertise in this field and would love to here what you would have to say about it.
Here = hear
—I’m calling that one a fake—can’t say that I am up to speed on latest in military stuff , but PETN isn’t a “binary” explosive.
That clip should be played over and over by rush, Sean, et al. Over and over.
In the video, it remarked that this stuff was available on the black market which would lead me to believe this would have been used by now, more than likely successfully so I had some doubts.
Knew a couple of guys forty some years ago who both were holding on to 50 grain Primacord-(major ingredient PETN)--when it detonated with no damage to their fingers--both had on leather gloves.
Damage done or rock broke or steel cut, etc., with explosives is highly dependent on contact between the explosive and the target.
While I don't claim to be an expert on aircraft destruction, my experience tells me that 3 ounces of PETN going off in a passenger's lap probably wouldn't bring down a plane any more than a single handgun round exiting the fuselage would---
Adults wetting their pants will be furious to investigate and should quickly learn the Change is worthless, yet the System, if operated as designed (the "Bush" system), could and Should have worked. They are going to be out for blood, pride and dry cleaning bills! They might start wearing catheters or even Depends to avoid accidents, but methinks that having everyone flying with lumpier crotches might make under-ware bombing more successful.
The part of the System that Napolitano seems to think work was the Dutch hero throwing himself upon bomb and bomber. Do that in the military and you generally receive a Medal of Honor... posthumously. Is such behavior now mandatory for civilians along with not reading, not using computers, blankets, pillows and basic hygiene? If so this former civilian needs to talk to the VA about my benefits. And I'd really like a good seat to watch when they inform the Nutroots they've all been drafted.
Her system to inflict as much damage as possible unto America did work.
No passport, one-way ticket, no baggage. Quite a system.
