His fiscal conservatism and conscience-guiding principles bother some.
On the surface, it might seem like Jacksonville City Councilman Clay Yarborough is a real-life Grinch.
He votes "nay" more often than his 18 other council colleagues, opposing public funding for feel-good initiatives like after-school programs, affordable housing and historic preservation.
Most of the time, he's the sole dissenter.
Yarborough doesn't think the programs are bad. He just doesn't want them supported with taxpayer dollars.

Grrrr. I am working a direct link, but until I get it right, you can find a link on the right hand side, under the most viewed/commented sections...
Thank you!!
Our local mayor and council have decided to take the ‘porkulus’ to fund a new high school......not realizing they would have to pay interest on the $$$$$$$. Meanwhile.....they have raised the local sales tax. Great, huh? Take $$$ from the taxpayers....TAX taxpayers for borrowing $$$$ to pay it back. Don’t ya’ just LOOOOOOVE ‘local politics’?
The ‘mayor’ is running for a state office.....as a REPUBLICAN. LMAO! I’ll be DAMNED if I’m voting for him!
That kind of “Republican” is what makes me so fiercely protective of the Tea Party movement. Already, on a local, state, and federal level, we have seen so many “Re-Born Conservatives” who were the exact same ones that we had to watch their every move, and seriously re-educate just this past summer : /
I don’t trust these jokers as far as I can throw ‘em....

Yarborough 2012!
He sure does get it, doesn’t he!?
And I want candidates JUST like him in 2010, and 2012. The vast majority of these clowns had their chance, and to say that they blew it, is the understatement of the year, lol.

What the hell city needs 19 city council members?
Jacksonville, Florida. “The Bold New City of the South”. They consolidated years ago, so the entire county, (Duval), is the “city”.
An elected official NOT wanting to spend more?
That IS front page news. :)
Liberals typically have a difficult time saying “No.” They want everyone to like them, and they are too weak and immature to be able to hurt someone’s feelings by not giving them what they want. Stuck in Jr. High. Nice to see a guy who can say “No.” We need people who can not only say, “No,” but can go farther - tear the in a methodical manner the governmental behemoth that has been created over the last 100 years or so.
Be still my beating heart! Exactly!
It’s like how an inmate on death row suddenly ‘finds god’ and becomes a born-again Christian only after the fact. Now we have politicians becoming ‘born-again republicans’, no thanks!
My thoughts as well :)
