Man on Flight to Detroit Claims Al Qaeda Ties; Obama Tightens Security
DETROIT -- A passenger on a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight tried to detonate an explosive device that was strapped to his leg and later told investigators that he was trying to blow up the plane and had affiliations with al Qaeda, according to a senior U.S. official.
The man, who has not been publicly identified by officials, told investigators that he was given the device by Al Qaeda operatives in Yemen, where he was also given instructions on how to detonate it, the official said. The Associated Press reported that Rep. Peter King (R., N.Y.) has identified the man as a Nigerian named Abdul Mudallad.

Everyone’s focused on the Socialized Health Care few want.
PLEASE ADD ME, THANK YOU
A large percentage of the screeners in AMS who do the interviews right before you get on the plane are muslims. PC is literally killing us.
The WSJ has done outstanding work this past year, so I decided to start a PING list.
Perhaps he isn’t. This is what the Chinese news service is reporting; “The suspect had been in a law enforcement intelligence database but was not on the government’s no-fly list, a law enforcement official said.”
Homeland Security has to be scrambling right now.
Pffft, yeah, right. /s
Maybe we need to be rethinking our no-fly list and stop giving terrorists the benefit of the doubt. Clearly, this guy should never have been allowed to get on a plane that was headed for our country.
Al Qaeda or not...it’s the Moslems that are doing this.
May all future airline bombers be as dimwitted and obvious as both this guy and the shoe bomber.
May all future airline bombers who are already on terrorists watch lists and who have just traveled to Yemen not be granted two-year visas to attend “religious ceremonies” in the US. In fact, they should not be allowed on planes headed our way ever.
From the Associated Press: U.S. officials say a Northwest Airlines passenger from Nigeria said he was acting on behalf of al-Qaida when he tried to blow up a flight Friday as it landed in Detroit. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., identified the suspect as Abdul Mudallad, a Nigerian. King said the flight began in Nigeria and went through Amsterdam en route to Detroit. One of the U.S. intelligence officials said the explosive device was a mix of powder and liquid. It failed when the passenger tried to detonate it. The passenger was being questioned Friday evening. Read the whole article here. We’re a little confused by this attack. George W. Bush is gone, so the world should love us again. Plus, Camp Gitmo is closing. What else could these terrorists want?? Maybe this terrorist simply saw the attack as a way to relocate to Northern Illinois. |
Obama was informed about three hours after plane landed and then spoke with DHS, NSC officials. |
Since the White House is on skeleton crew during the holidays, I guess there is no one there to threaten and read the riot act to the CNN newscasters.
There is no inner sanctum at Schiphol. Secrity is at every gate when you board.
Or maybe the substance is not traceable by the detectors being used.

Amen. Much love for these awesome patriots!
Just great.
There is one way to stop it.
No Islamics fly. Period.
OR...he knew he could get arrested...by pulling off a lame attempt on board a plane...he knows he will get a lawyer, be tried in US federal court, and placed in a high security federal prison for terrrorists, in the mid west. Then we have GITMO folks transfered to the "same" prison...the lame plane bomber then shares the info he has with the GITMO folks...hell these are guys who carry grudgefests for centuries...whats a few months to communicate a message from OBL?
