You know, every time I go to that airport I am nervous. I have to pass two mosques just to get there!
Reminds me!
Friday afternoon Dayton OH, my flight is canceled. I book a later flight home from Cincy, rent a car and hurry down there. Of course the new ticket was the HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS one-way ticket. Frugal terrorists ALWAYS buy one-way. So I got the full rectal in Cincy. (Duh. I was flying to the nearest commercial airport to my home of 30 years or so. Duh again. They seem to be able to clear me into Air Force bases and I don't even need a boarding pass.) Well, in front of me on the line waiting for this treat was a marine in full dress uniform with order papers. I'm sure, in the interest of fairness he received no expedited treatment.
ML/NJ
good for them
Yes, I have flown in and out of Schipol in Amsterdam
before 9/11 and security was tight, guards with automatic weapons and careful checking of baggage.
And even before 9/11, you always got a second ‘interview’...
My daughter-in-law went through security with her 4 dinky kids and their stroller. She forgot her handgun with clip was in her diaper bag. Security never saw it.
Fortunately, security was more diligent at wanding and patting down senile old ladies in wheelchairs.
Of course, they threw away my husbands toothpaste.
KLM, a first class operation.
Never a bad experience on KLM for me.
If the ‘raghead’ ahead of you was actually wearing a turban, there’s a good chance he was a Sikh, not a Muslim, and would have been the first to jump into the fray in defense of the airplane and passengers if a Muslim started anything. (The Sikh custom of carrying a dagger ‘to fight injustice’ was instituted in response to the injustices of Muslim persecution of Sikhs.)
Did his turban cover his ears? If so, he was a Sikh.
Thanks for posting. BTTT!
I’ll trust a Sikh anyday in a knife fight. The Brit.’s found out the hard way during their occupation of India and that part of the world.
Northwest is a (disappearing) brand name now owned by Delta.
As far as I’m concerned, US Mil should be issued AT LEAST a Leatherman when they board an aircraft.
Security on flights to the U.S. from overseas is (I thought) tighter than for domestic travel. I go through Amsterdam often enough -- now I am concerned.
That is absurd. It is another illustration of how pussified and pansified the American people have become.
My recommendation right after 9/11 was to issue every passenger getting on a plane a baseball bat or other blunt instrument.
I still think that would be more effective, less expensive, and less sissifying than relying on "authorities" to "protect" us and "keep us safe".
Yemen-AMS-DTW, so only gate x-ray check (done by Delta) at AMS, not full security.
No it’s those radical Amish again . . .
Let’s hope this isn’t part of a multi pronged attack tonight.
Yes, he boarded in Amersterdam, from Nigeria.
Claims al qaeda made him do it.
Connecting flight at AMS, so no full security screening, only gate screen by Delta.
I’ve caught connecting flights out of Schipol and was subject to some very intense security interviews.....
My experience as well.
