Roy Rogers and his trusty steed Trigger may have come to the end of their "Happy Trails" - television's most famous horse is going on the auction block, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.
The beloved golden palomino's home, the Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum, has closed - doomed by bitter family feuding, greed, mounting debts and IRS demands.
Trigger - stuffed in a familiar pose, rearing majestically on hind legs - will join Dale Evans' horse Buttermilk, their beloved German shepherd Bullet and other Rogers memorabilia in bidding that's expected to reach into the multimillions of dollars.
Fans around the world were stunned by the news that the museum in Branson, Mo., abruptly closed its doors on Dec. 12 after being open to fans for 42 years.
"Negotiations are underway for Trigger, Buttermilk and Bullet to be sold at auction in New York next summer," an insider told The ENQUIRER. "The IRS has valued Trigger alone at $1 million - not bad for a horse Roy paid $25,000 for when he was alive!

Sad to hear but it just confirms what so many of us believe and advocate. Nothing is forever. I don’t belive that Roy and Dale would disagree. Their memory lives on in music and film and will continue to do so for a very long time.
Roy was never as wealthy, in the monetary sense, as other actors of his time. Somewhere I saw a video of him plowing his garden. Wonderful man, spent a fortune on all of his adopted kids. This is how they repay his memory.
"Out of the clear blue Western sky comes -- Sky King!"
hard to keep a museum afloat when most people are too young to even know who they are...
I am 47 and I never once saw any Roy Rogers or Dale Evans on tv or movies... they weren’t in syndication I guess...
they sound like great people though.
I am old enough to remember the before TV days when it was all on Radio. I can remember when TV first came out, my folks had a tv with a small round green screen but how we loved it. The Honeymooners, Amos and Andy, Lawrence Welk and then the Saturday western shows. Such great memories.
I had the opposite experience in about 1990. He and his wife, Dale, were very congenial and he signed an autograph.
But then I would never ask anyone for their autograph.
Don’t forget Hoppy in your list.

You can get that at Vangard, or just investing in the stock market on good companies. CD’s are only barely better keeping money in your sock drawer.
For instance, if you had put some money into the stockmarket a year ago, you would be doing pretty good. Apple stock is up 133%, Autozone is up 62%, even Big Lots is up 100% as it doubled in price.
The Happy Trails Foundation helps abused children. They raffle an exceptional 6 gun outfit every year and have raised over $1M. So they’re some good being done.

Why? It was the early 60's. We had Autograph books and tried to get as many signatures as possible. It was fun most stars felt honored. Not so with Roy Rogers. I just rmemember those eyes. Sort of scary for a little 8 year old girl.

Sky King! “Penny, this is Songbird. Come in.” Great stuff.
Notwithstanding the anecdotal evidence to the contrary that you have presented, whom am I going to believe,...you or Roy Rogers?
You can believe your lying eyes...LOL..JK
What great shows!

Actually, that’s not what being a Christian is all about. It’s a nice thought, though.
