Salvation Army major shot dead in front of 3 children

A Salvation Army major was fatally shot in front of his three children Thursday afternoon as he walked into the the organization's community center in North Little Rock, authorities said.
Around 4 p.m., two black men dressed in black approached Philip Wise, 40, of Maumelle outside the community center at 1505 W. 18th St., Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper said.
Wise’ children — ages 4, 6, and 8 — were walking with him when the men came up to them, police said. His wife, Cindy, also a major in the Salvation Army, was inside the center at the time and called 911.
One of the men pulled a gun, demanded money and then shot Wise, police said.
Police ask that anyone with information contact them at 758-1234.

After reflecting on my rant about the stupidity of holding up an
SA member for money...it will be interesting to see if this SA fellow
was bringing in donation money from the SA kettles in the area.
Hopefully, this means the thugs hung around and follwed him some
before the deadly encounter...maybe this increases the likelihood
of finding witnesses.
(Dear Lord, I do hope they have the courage to “snitch” on these thugs.)

Why would they rob a drug dealer, who is likely to be armed? Much safer to go after someone who is likely to be unarmed and defenseless.
My heart breaks.
I do not want to share ANYTHING (the country, our taxes, the AIR) with monsters that would do this to someone, especially someone who would have helped these creatures.
Police say Wise took two bell ringers home and then returned to the Salvation Army with his three young children. Officers say two armed men approached Wise at the back door and demanded money. They say they then shot Wise at least once. He died at the scene.
Police are not saying if money was taken.
Wise’s three children witnessed the shooting. Their ages are 4, 6, and 8. His wife was inside and reportedly called 911.
North Little Rock police are searching for two black suspects. Police say they are in their late teens to early twenties and were dressed in all black.
Police say Wise had been with the Salvation Army for 16 years. For the last three years he has managed the Salvation Army chapters in Sherwood, North Little Rock, and Maumelle.
The Salvation Army is planning a press conference for Friday at 11 a.m. We will be sure to bring you the latest details on this story Friday on Today’s THV and right here on todaysthv.com. Officers with the Salvation Army plan to speak about Wise and his many years of service.

I'm sure restrictive gun control laws and lenient sentencing guidelines would have prevented this crime.

A Pulaski County coroner said Wise was pronounced dead at the scene.
Maj. Cindy Wise, the man’s wife who also is a Salvation Army officer, was in the center and witnessed the shooting and called 911, telling police her husband had just dropped off bell-ringers from collecting money for the needy. She said her family was walking into the center at 18th and Main from a van used to pick up the bell-ringers from locations around the city.

Wise, a native of Maryland, attended Salvation Army training from 1992 to 1994 in Atlanta. The Web site documenting his attendance quotes Ephesians 6:12: “We doth not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Just last week, a Salvation Army kettle was stolen in a robbery at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Sherwood, just a few miles north of where the shooting occurred Thursday.
