Dear Attorney General Holder:
We write to demand an immediate investigation into the activities of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. We believe there is an abundant public record which establishes that the actions of the White House have blocked any investigation into his activities while on the board of Freddie Mac from 2000-2001, and facilitated the cover up of potential malfeasance until the 10-year statute of limitations has run out.
The purpose of this letter is to connect the dots to establish both the conduct of Mr. Emanuel and those working with him to thwart inquiry, and to support your acting speedily so that the statute of limitations does not run out before the Justice Department is able to empanel a grand jury.
The New York Times reports that the administration is negotiating to double the commitments to Fannie and Freddie for a total of $800 billion by December 31, in order to avoid the congressional approval that would be needed after that date. But there currently is no Inspector General exercising independent oversight of these entities. Acting Inspector General Ed Kelly was stripped of his authority earlier this year by the Justice Department, relying on a loophole in a bill Mr. Emanuel cosponsored and pushed through Congress shortly before he left for the White House. This effectively ended Mr. Kellys investigation into what happened at Fannie and Freddie.

parsy, who notes there is an online petition you can sign
good luck with that.
Oh how I would love to see this guy take a fall. Please let it happen.
Me too. I signed the petition.
parsy, who says the game may be afoot
Isn’t Hamsher Andy Stern’s (SEIU) squeeze?
As much as I’d like to see Rahmbo get his just reward (prison time), I think this request will be like spitting in the ocean. You can do it, but it won’t make any difference. Holder is as much as a scuzzball as Rahmbo. When evil investigates evil, evil is always declared cleared. Kelly was fired because he was that close to having the goods on Rshm, Rahm wanted him fired, and no one, even the POTUS, has the gonads to stand up to the little butthead.
Explosive if this holds up. Wouldn't this involve Barney Frank and that Raines guy, too?
I don’t know. I’ve seen her on TV a few times. She seems spirited.
parsy, who thinks he has seen her on the ED Show
I don’t mind wasting my time in a good fight. This one will probably indict Republicans and Democrats if it goes forward.
parsy, who don’t mind lost causes if they’re right
Yup, particularly Raines. I read he was rigging the books to maximize his bonuses. I think this was in Issa’s report.
parsy, who memory ain’t what it used to be
I always wondered how Rahm made 18M practically overnight.
As i remember, Bush actually tried to do right on the Fannie stuff but Congress would have none of it.
parsy, who thinks this is a target rich environment for investigation
Could be his former squeeze gets to be the beneficiary.
More butter on that popcorn...
Rahm will giv’m the short finger!
Part of it is, I’m sure. Obama is getting toasted on the ED Show. Progressives are fed up with him.
parsy, who says, BTW, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
Eeeek!
I’ve never been comfortable about Grover - is he the muzzie, his wife or both are muzzies?
Rahm is one of those people who used to make me sick during the Clinton years. Also Sydney Blumenthal. Yeccch!
parsy, who stil gags at Begala
This is something that the Bush bashers (the DU, KOS spies, and Paulites) conveniently forget. And they also forget that Pres. Bush tried to reign in Social Security, too, or at least try to bring some sense to that giant Ponzi/Bernie Maddoff scheme.
