Attorney General Corbett analyzing constitutionality of "Nebraska Compromise" in health care bill
PA Office of the Attorney General ^ | 12/23/2009

HARRISBURG - Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett said today that his office is conducting a legal analysis of the constitutionality of the provision granting Nebraska a permanent exemption from paying Medicaid expenses that all other states, including Pennsylvania, are required to pay.

Corbett said that Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson secured this special provision for Nebraska in exchange for his support of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act.

Corbett said, "The result of the Nelson amendment, which the media has dubbed 'The Nebraska Compromise,' could have dire financial consequences for Pennsylvania taxpayers, forcing them to help offset the cost of Nebraska's Medicaid recipients.

"Medicaid expenses for Pennsylvania total approximately $15 billion per year and the Nelson amendment raises serious constitutional questions about imposing federal costs and mandates that treat one state differently from all the others.

The issue of equity and tax fairness should not be ignored, whether it is at the local, state or federal level."

Corbett said that he is working with attorneys general from across the nation who are also concerned with the impact that the Nelson amendment will have on their states.

I emailed his office. I think we all should email all of our attorney’s general about this. Some, such as Corbett are running for something next year.

The word Marxist you used.

The left thinks this is about politics and make calling. They really think that there is no take over and that there is no commies or Marxists in power nor do the think that we are heading to that.

that is what is so different to us and them.

They see and hear what they want to and cannot really see what is going on.

We have a president who has hung out with the likes of Ayers and Wright, both who have Marxists views. We have some on this admin who have said publically from Anita Dunn to Van Jones saying they love mass killers and go with that agenda.
We have a president and his wife who have no problem with that agenda and has even said in his books he sought out radicals, Marxists, commies etc to hang out with.

There’s many in the white house and admin who have said bone chilling stuff about wanting to poison the water, to letting animals have lawyers , to showing kids how homosexuals fist each other etc.

\
If they actually used their brain and opened their eyes they would see all of this but instead they d not because of out of ignorance or they just cannot get their mind out of cult like status.

Saul Alinsky would be proud and they have no problem with that.
Mao on the christmas tree, a frigging mass killer who is just as bad as Hitler, Stalin, pol pot etc

Either they just say they’re Socialists and Marxists or stop making fools of themslves

It sounds like Cristy wants to govern under the “big tent”. What he will find out is when that big tent collapses on them they will all suffocate...

What “compromise”?

What was comprised — other than senatorial ethics?

What about the "Louisiana Purchase", which bought Landrieu's vote? What about the "un-named institution" to get $100 Million for a Medical Center?

This is a joke; the Senate is in the BUSINESS of shaking down taxpayers to enrich Lobbiest-promoted interests, along with extorting donations to the Senators' campaigns in exchange for legislation aimed at the donor's benefit.

A very, very tiny part of me almost wants this bill to pass, just to witness the truly monumental CLUSTER-[YOU-KNOW-WHAT] that will result from the attempt to enact it.

Ben Nelson made the comment the other day about all the heat he’s taking in Nebraska that “it is like coming home and being bitten by the family dog”. He was too stupid to think that he was comparing Nebraska voters to dogs although I’m sure that’s how he thinksof us.
