People are praying for many things during this holy season. But perhaps the most unusual request of all comes from religious conservatives, including some in Congress. They staged an Internet "prayercast'' to block the health-care legislation being voted on today in the Senate.
Given that Democrats have the 60 votes lined up to pass it, they may have to call in Benny Hinn to pull off this miracle.
How exactly does one pray against health care?
Dear Lord, please do not send the downtrodden to the doctor because my taxes will go up and I'll have to wait in line for my knee replacement.
Or: Dear God, please don't give that other family health coverage taxpayers cannot afford so I can keep the Medicare Advantage and drug plan we also cannot afford.
Or how about a simple: Deliver us from socialism. Amen.
I certainly do not agree with everything in the health-care bills. But praying against access to medical care right before Christmas? And then claiming God's political support?

While it is the Christian duty to plead the cause of the poor, the Bible says that he that does not work shall not eat. People are supposed to provide for themselves when possible. And no where does it say in the Bible to give people free things if they will not work.
Jesus is a curse word for most of the media.
Once again, those on the left are either too stupid to grasp the situation or are intentionally lying. Piss be upon him.
Already have health care for needy. Besides private charity (which is what Jesus prescribed, not government welfare), we have Medicaid and dozens of state versions.
Next trope please.
LOL! Like saying G-d would support stealing money, creating Death Panels, and destroying the greatest health care system in the world.
Liberals don’t get it. They never will.
The bills getting batted around the Congress are not about health care they are trying to force us all to pay for health insurance. Care, you pay for when you get it. Insurance, you pay for whether or not you need care.
They are definitely not interchangeable words, so why in the Dickens are the media using them that way?
To confuse the issue.
How about..."Dear Lord, please obstruct the fascists from enslaving the American people and destroying the nation through the lie that they care for the poor."?
Please save my children and grandchildren from growing up in the police state Democrats are attempting to erect. Please let people understand that collectivism is a vile ideology that results from weak character low intellectual capacity. Turn people away from these knaves before they are able to do any more damage to a once great nation.
Amen
Jesus also said in so many words that the world did not accept Me, so they are not going to accept you(Christians). So what this fellow is writing tells me he has no understanding of The Holy Bible whatsoever.
I wonder when Mike Thomas last went to church. This piece is disgusting and despicable.
But in none of the Bibles I own did He command us to compel the government to do it.
How does "one" conclude that is what the prayer is?
A prayer against health care would be "a pox on all hospitals, doctors, nurses, and pharmacies!"
This is a rejection of the State (Caesar) usurping control of free individuals.
There is no charity in forced taxation.
I partly agree. I believe some do know the difference and intentionally obfuscate the issue. Others in the media are too stupid to understand the difference and are too myopic to care.
He would pray to heal anyone who believes in him and the Holy Father.
Merry Christmas!
Funny how liberals will embrace Jesus only when it suits their purpose, otherwise he is shunned and mocked.
Satan quoted scripture to Jesus when he was tested. I'm not impressed with Satan or this writer. They both twist the words to suit their own selfish desires.
Agreed
my thoughts exactly...the God that I pray to would not be *okay* with murdering babies.
And remember what Pelosi said when abortion was ‘included’... “Thank God”...can’t believe she didn’t burst into flames on the spot.
