The UK Meteorological Office released what it described as temperature data for over a century and a half from more than 1500 land weather stations throughout the world, along with what the Met Office described as the code used to plot temperature trends for the time frame in question. But the data are apparently not the raw data, and questions remain as to the validity of the adjustment of the data, an inconsistency in reporting a lack of valid temperature measurements in one year, and the accuracy of the source code.
John Graham-Cummings...
That's a bit odd, but not serious. But it makes me suspect something: I'll bet a mince pie that this code the Met Office has released is not the code they actually use to create CRUTEM3. I bet they wrote it especially for this release.
...
The Met Office says this to describe their own release:
The database consists of the value added product that has been quality controlled and adjusted to account for identified non-climatic influences. It is the station subset of this value-added product that we have released. Adjustments were only applied to a subset of the stations so in many cases the data provided are the underlying data minus any obviously erroneous values removed by quality control. The Met Office do not hold information as to adjustments that were applied and so cannot advise as to which stations are underlying data only and which contain adjustments.
The Met Office now appears to be saying that even it does not know which numbers are raw data and which are adjusted data, nor which adjustments were made.

I believe at this point...raw data no longer exists on the face of Earth. We might as well accept the fact that everyone is now operating under some disguise of “improved” or “altered” data. I don’t see why we couldn’t even alter our age with this new concept of ‘reality’.
They should have quit while they were behind.
If one cannot produce the core data used and also be able to trace the methodology pipeline back to the actual raw data, then their procedures are not replicable nor able to be scrutinized via a real peer review process.
“Garbage” would be the term most scientists would use to describe such a resultant data set.
No one doing scientific research destroys or loses data. I own an Industrial Hygiene firm. We throw NOTHING away. If we ever get called to court, we must be able to substantiate everything. The destruction of data because they “didn’t have room” at their new digs doesn’t pass the smell test. Definite coverup. These guys have committed fraud and are guilty of conspiracy, using public monies, and must go to jail. Albore didn’t do the research, so lacking a clear link to the research, was probably a willing dupe. Which just proves he is an idiot. The scientists who have been vindicated must sue the people who have damaged their careers. Maybe the legal system can finally be put to good use.
Something strikes me odd about that picture. I don’t think I would put a trash burn barrel on top of a flammable wooden pallet!
Hey! Why look a gift horse in the mouth?
These are "value added" data. What more could an inquisitive mind want?
Except the raw data.

Oh yeah! There are some really damning photos. Like the one at the firestation. But this one just doesn’t ring true to me, and I wouldn’t use it as an example. A trash-burning barrel sitting on a wooden palette? Nah!
Another point about that station; on a hot Summer’s day? 85 degrees, and someone burns some trash? That thermometer would read like 150 degrees. I just don’t like this one photo.
