Since we can’t post the essay,
nor probably post a link to the essay because it’s too truthful, ie, it’s “racis!”,

Didn’t take your advice. Read it and found it remarkedly objective and true. I would offer that my experience is that blacks do well when they make up less than 10% of the majority, they progressively do poorer as this 10% threshold is exceeded. At some point, say around 20 or 25%, the wheels come off and they are only concerned with the judgement of their “bros”. In the Marines we see this happen and call it the “black shack” phenomena. This phenomena also works for Mexican Americans (especially true of Pendleton Marines). Organizationally, you must constantly measure the amount of whites to blacks and Mexicans to avoid the phenomena. As long as whites comprise roughly 60 to 70% of the unit, the unit will function well. Cross that line and the military culture quickly evaporates. Lately, I have seen a lot of problems with these percentages in the Navy aboard certain classes of ships. The counter intuitive notion that more black officers need to be promoted to balance out the officer corps has caused a situation where white sailors and officers fear serving under black skippers. They rightly fear a loss of military discipline which puts them at personal risk. So far, I have never seen this happen in ground combat units for the simple reason that blacks avoid combat specialties. In an infantry unit, it is much more likely to find whites and Mexicans/Puerto Ricans/Cubans, than to find blacks. The percentages I am used to seeing is 75% white, 12% Mex/Rican/Cuban/etc, and the remainder black. Whites and latins function well. Blacks function well under this mix. As you move from combat units to combat support and combat service support you find an increasing percentage of blacks. This is where you are likely to find trouble spots (where the density of blacks increases so does your problems). Enjoyed the read. Mr. Jackson sounds like a true “teacher”. Sorry I did not get to study under someone like him - I had too many green horned women teachers in my time. Merry Christmas
Hard-hitting, eye-opening essay. Matches EXACTLY the experiences of some close friends of mine who attended predominately black high schools.
