What all the “the birth certificate issue is settled” folks miss in the argument is not that the document itself is in doubt (though it is for many). The problem with Obama stems from the tangled web of residences, parental citizenships, and travel that he experienced when younger. They cast enough doubt on his origin that the burden of proof is on him to establish that he meets the criteria for election. Add in all the Obama relatives claiming to have witnessed his Kenyan birth, and the newspaper articles, both foreign and US, from just a few years ago that refer to him as kenyan-born, and the uncertain status of his biological father’s citizenship, and you have enough grounds for concern. Beyond that, he has taken great pains to obscure vast swathes of his educational and early-career activities. One can only conclude that he has things in his past that he considers to be of concern, or are outright damaging to his position or qualifications. Again, the burden of proof falls on him to dispel these questions, not on the questioner to prove the validity of their concerns.

I TOTALLY agree with your argument and logic on this. Unfortunately the Republican presidential candidate took the issue off the table and the media, even on the conservative side, were too afraid of being tagged as racist to do any independent investigation and to insist that Obama provide the suppressed documents.
