Freezing weather brings misery to Europe
bbc ^

Much of Europe continues to face severe transport upheaval as a cold snap sweeps the continent.

More than 80 people have died across Europe, including at least 42 in Poland and another 27 in Ukraine who have frozen to death.

Another 13 people died in car accidents in Austria, Finland and Germany, where temperatures dropped well below zero.

Air, rail and road transport has been severely disrupted across northern Europe and more snow is expected.

The disruption has come during the busy Christmas holiday season, affecting many people's travel plans.

Stranded travellers

The bitterly cold weather across much of the continent combined with heavy snow in some areas has caused cancellations and delays at airports and forced train lines to close.

But after three days of cancelled services, Eurostar trains began running between Brussels, Paris and London. The backlog of thousands of stranded travellers was expected to take several days to clear.

Domestic rail services across the UK have been severely delayed, with buses replacing trains in many areas.

British Airways said the majority of its flights were operating again after it had cancelled all its domestic and European flights from the main London airport, Heathrow, on Monday.

Other airlines, including EasyJet and Ryanair, have cancelled dozens of flights and told travellers to expect delays.

Frankfurt airport, Europe's third largest, re-opened on Tuesday morning after closing on Monday because of icy conditions.

In France, Belgium and the Netherlands, airport operators cleared runways after thick snowfall caused major disruption to flight patterns.

Road traffic in the UK was severely disrupted across the UK, including the south-east where roads were gridlocked late on Monday after numerous crashes in heavy snowfall.

Major roads elsewhere in Europe were blocked after some regions had snowfall of up to 50cm (20in).

Yep, just remember what the global warming liberals tell us. They always say that you can’t look at day to day weather or extreme temperatures as evidence of whether global warming is happening.

lol only 13 people in 3 countries would be not much.
unfortunaltey a lot more people have died.
there have been daily news that “mostly drunken kids” died every night because they fell to sleep on their way home and have been frozen to death.

I don’t even know what you’re talking about. East Anglia has posted their temperature data for the month and they have temps across Europe to be in the 70’s and 80’s all month.

I think that article might be bogus.

I don’t know about that. I am in Sicily the southern portion of Europe (or close to) and we are only in the high 50’s during the day....very cold at night.

“They always say that you can’t look at day to day weather or extreme temperatures as evidence of whether global warming is happening.”

True, but a good case of frostbite lasts many days, sometimes weeks or months, even years. All I’m asking is that they get a little reminder of reality, an inconvenient truth to interrupt the brainwashing.

That may be true, but East Anglia runs that through their statistical modification formulas to give us what the actual global warming temperature is.

See, it’s not as cold as you thought.

Even at -4°K East Anglia would still report “Warmest Ever, worse than we thought!!”

LOL, negative values on the Kelvin temperature scale would not be beyond the idiocy of the alarmists. BTW, it’s “°C” for degrees Celsius and “°F” for degrees Fahrenheit, but just “K” for Kelvin - no degrees for him!
