Sorry for the vanity post, but based on the current polling of the American people, is a referendum to repeal the healthcare bill a viable option? I haven't heard this discussed yet anywhere.
Fire all Democrats in the Senate!!!!!!!!!!
We can do NOTHING, neither can any future Congress. Reid included a proviso that says no future Congress can make any changes to this.
from managers amendment
“ it shall not be in order in the senate or the house of representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection.
We are pretty well screwed
Can someone tell me how 60 senators can pass a bill that would take 67 to repeal? Who do they think they are? Seems blatantly unwise!

Congress can pass and the President can sign into law the repeal of that very language. It means nothing, save for the arrogance of this Congress.
ah but we would need a supermajority in both houses and a GOP president for this to happen.
that sadly is yeears away and in the meantime odumbo and dems are destroying this country
Plus for goodness sake this is outrageous and MSM should be shouting this on every newscast blog and site
I want someone to drill down to the bottom of this provision IMMEDIATELY. If it's been described accurately, it is nothing short of a bloodless coup d'etat.
In theory, it can be repealed. But in practice, even if Repubs. take back both houses of Congress next November, they won’t have the 2/3 in both houses that they would need to overcome an Obama veto. Next chance would be 2012, if the country can survive that long.
States rights under the 10th Amendment might work, although I expect the states to roll over when their federal funding gets threatened.
Are the details of this manager’s amendment outlined somewhere? I’d like to know more about this.
That just happen to be unconstitutional and illegal. As someone else pointed out, it's a basic, fundamental tenet of law that you can't pass a law and prevent future congresses from repealing it.
It has ZERO chance of standing a Supreme Court challenge.
...already scheduled for Nov, 2010.
It’s viable in Switzerland, but not in the USA.
