Over the weekend, the Daily News reported that Fox News host Geraldo Rivera has told Fox News founder and chairman Roger Ailes he'll quit if Ailes hires Lou Dobbs.
Rivera tells Rush & Molloy, "I never threatened to quit," adding, "The last time I checked, no one here was talking to the a-â." A rep for Ailes concurs, telling the paper he isn't looking to add Dobbs to either FNC or FBN.
And all this reminded us about a situation a few years ago just after Rivera signed a reported 6-year $36m contract with NBC. In August, 1998 Newsweek reported on a riff between Rivera and then NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw. Rivera complained in a TV Guide interview that promos for his CNBC show "Rivera Live" didn't air during "Nightly" because Brokaw banned them. He also seemed to be gunning for Brokaw's job, telling TV Guide he was, "in the running for the center chair at the desk of the wise men."
A day after the quotes leaked, Rivera issued this statement: "Tom Brokaw is a great newsman who does a terrific job and the rivalry between us is grossly overstated." He also explained that his ambition to be "the news anchor for the next millennium" did not extend beyond his role as a CNBC host.
Rivera left NBC after the 9/11 attacks going to work for Fox News as a war correspondent.
Only if the quit includes not breathing!! then I am all ahead to do what ever it takes to make this happen!!
Go after a three-fer:
I’ll trade Geraldo, Shep Smith and Liz Wiehl for one Lou Dobbs and feel like I came out ahead.
Yup.
He's the biggest pro Latino illegal alien, law breaking shill on TV right now.
He spit in Michelle Malkin's face!?
Where's me a chair?
Could be a double win- Geraldo gone and Lou in. I’m smiling here.
Has there been a single post in support of the malicious dirtbag, or did I miss it?
No, he said he would like to spit in her face.
Yeah, Geraldo. Do that at one of her book signings.
I dare you.
LOL I just got here and
from the amount of comments I see,
I knew it was going to be a good one.
Bye-bye Hurl-aldo...
been nice not knowin’ ya.
Cheers!
Adios, Jerry
First of all, he ain’t goin’ nowhere unless forced to do so. He knows he’d have more viewers on cable access than any of the other cable networks.
Second, I had a friend once who managed a bunch of Walmart type discount stores. One of the store managers came in one day and told him “If you don’t do.....I’ll quit.”
My friend held out his hand and said “Hand me your keys.”
The local manager, with a “deer caught in the head lights” look” asked, “Why?”
My friend said, “You just quit.” The guy said that he hadn’t. My friend said, “You told me that if I didn’t do so and so, you were going to quit. I’m not doing it therefore you quit. Now, hand me your keys.”
This is what Ailes should have done whether he wants to hire Dobbs or not.
Hey Jerry - go somewhere and open a safe.
So let him quit. I usually serf the stations when he's talking anyway.
He's not really FOX material. He doesn't think about the consequences of those things he supports.
Fox can hire Lou Dobbs now, without affecting the budget.
Can we help this process along, somehow?
perfect!
Sweet!
