MSNBC's Rachel Maddow launched an error-riddled attack against the John Birch Society in her December 18 show, nominally because the John Birch Society has become a sponsor of the upcoming February 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

“Eisenhower as published remained damning, but omitted the accusation that he was a willing agent of the USSR.”
Patton and Forrestal and I agree with that statement.
They were always into conspiracy, but they've gone stark raving mad here lately.
I was a member of the Birch Society from 1977- to '81 (the Jimmy Carter years) and I have a very negative opinion of that organization. They are a remnant of the old pre-WWII right wing and have promoted anti-Semites like Nesta Webster and Prince Michel Sturdza. Their worldview is basically the Nazi "Jewish conspiracy" theory with the word "Jews" removed. And while they were all for "US interference" in Central America during the Reagan Administration (the Western Goals Foundation), they are "isolationist" when it comes to any "US interference" that could wind up benefiting Israel or Jews. In my experience they are extremely anti-Israel and not much shy of the old "Liberty Lobby." In fact, my personal opinion is that they operate as the "blue lodge" of the anti-Semitic movement in the United States.
Some of you are going to pile on me, but I've been there!
Fr has been through its JBS period. We know the game. Scratch a JB’er and chances are good that you find an anti-Semite.
Whats the Liberty Lobby?
“Scratch a JBer and chances are good that you find an anti-Semite.”
I think that is only to the extent that some Communists who killed more than Hitler were Jews.

I remember those days. FR used to be crawling with out-and-out anti-Semites in the days before 9/11. Thanks to Jim Rob for putting his foot down and getting rid of them.
Listen . . . I used to think the JBS hung the moon. I thought they were absolutely perfect. Now I'm ashamed that I ever belonged. And I know more about them than I've posted, too.
The man responsible for my joining the JBS was Alan Stang. Well guess what . . . Alan Stang is now a raving lunatic who considers Abraham Lincoln to be the "first Communist president" and whose list of villains now includes Alexander Hamilton and Henry Clay. How George Washington escaped getting on the list I don't know.
As I said, my theory is that they are the "blue lodge" of the anti-Semitic movement--that means they aren't explicitly anti-Semitic, but they expose members to a sort of toned-down, bowdlerized anti-Semitism that usually produces more out-and-out anti-Semites. Many of the most notorious American Jew-haters got started in the JBS and it's still stuffed to the gills with them, however the Society as a whole avoids endorsing anti-Semitism as an "official" position.
The Liberty Lobby was an out-and-out anti-Semitic, anti-Israel organization founded and run by the spider at the center of the anti-Semitic web in the United States--Willis Carto. They were also huge fans of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Carto was a disciple of Francis Parker Yockey (author of the national socialist "classic" Imperium) and was the final publisher of American Mrcry magazine, turning it into an out-and-out national socialist publication that reprinted articles by Hitler (mach shemo!). And there was a great deal of common membership between it and the JBS. Liberty Lobby's lawyer was a member of the Council of the JBS.
Lenin, Trotsky, Kaganovich and Yagoda killed 25 million - mostly Christians.
Does being critical of that make one antisemetic?
No one said it did.
Scratch a JBer and chances are good that you find an anti-Semite.
“No one said it did.”
Oops - which statement do you want to retract.
Here what you said:
“Lenin, Trotsky, Kaganovich and Yagoda killed 25 million - mostly Christians.
Does being critical of that make one antisemetic?”
I never said that being critical of Lenin, Trotsky, Kaganovich and Yagoda made someone an anti-Semite.
Does being critical of that make one antisemetic?
Lenin wasn't Jewish. Neither was Friedrich Engels, despite the insistence of my JBS Coordinator that he was.
Lenin and co. killed anyone who got in their way. Most Russians were Orthodox chr*stians. Joseph Stalin, originally an Orthodox chr*stian himself, probably had more people killed than any other person in Russia. Mao killed more people than anyone else in history, and most of his victims were probably b*ddhist.
Blaming Israel for what Lenin did and supporting the PLO as a way to "fight Communism" does make one anti-Semitic. Do you care to dispute this?
You didnt answer my question.
Does being critical of Jews that killed 25 million make one antisemetic and if not, why all the angst against the Birchers who were at the forefront against communist genocide?
Me thinks we have some Kremlin apologists who want to keep commie genocide a secret.
Sorry, I wont be shouted down.
“Most Russians were Orthodox chr*stians.”
That is “Christian” with a capital “C”, or are you purposely demeening Christians as I see you made the same mistake twice.

BTW, the communists killed lots of people but they targeted the Ukrainians and German colonists for genocide.
They were pretty skeery as I recall.
Yes I did.
Does being critical of Jews that killed 25 million make one antisemetic and if not, why all the angst against the Birchers who were at the forefront against communist genocide?
That depends. You don't mean the Biblical Israelites who exterminated the Seven Nations of Canaan, do you? BTW, they're also going to exterminate the `Amaleqites in the future, so you might want to hide somewhere.
And as I also stated, blaming the Israelis for what the Bolsheviks did and supporting the Communist PLO because it kills Jews (and therefore is somehow "fighting Communism" without realizing it) does make one anti-Semitic.
That is Christian with a capital C, or are you purposely demeening Christians as I see you made the same mistake twice.
Sorry, Noob. I have a religious scruple against printing out or pronouncing the names of false "gxds." Do you want me to spell out "b*ddhist" too?
“”That is Christian with a capital C, or are you purposely demeening Christians as I see you made the same mistake twice.””
“Sorry, Noob. I have a religious scruple against printing out or pronouncing the names of false “gxds.” “
Oy vey ish mir-What yeshiva did you go to? Nairobi?
“Christians” is not a god - it is the proper name of a group of people that is capitalized.
I think you want IsraelUbermensch.com, not Freerepublic.com
“Heck, they were anti lots of stuff, a strange list. I met a small group of them about thirty years ago. They were absolute moonbats of the first degree, believing in the dumbest crap you can imagine”
Try me - I have a good imagination. What did they say?
I recall them only being dead set against communism and communist genocide.
This article says that the Birchers got lots of criticism for accepting Jews into its ranks.
I am not sure it is fair to call them antisemites.
