Democrats’ Health Bill Passes Key Senate Vote Republicans pledge to fight on despite losing early Monday
WASHINGTON - Senate Democrats’ health care overhaul passed a key test in a party-line vote early Monday, in a dramatic defeat for Republicans that put the legislation on track for Christmas-week passage.
In the run-up to the vote, the escalation in rhetoric was remarkable on both sides of an issue that has divided the two political parties for months.
"This process is not legislation. This process is corruption," said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., referring to the last-minute flurry of dealmaking that enabled Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and the White House to lock in the 60 votes needed to approve the legislation.
Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island responded in near-Biblical terms. In a speech on the Senate floor, he said Republicans are embarked on a "no-holds barred mission of propaganda, obstruction and fear. ... There will be a reckoning. There will come a day of judgment about who was telling the truth."
First 60-vote test coming up Whatever else it was, the legislation represented the culmination of a year's work for Democrats, pressed by President Barack Obama to remake the nation's health care system.

I’m fortunate someone has the same sentiment that I do right now. The irritating thing is that so many people of my generation made this happen. Idiots, all of them!

I fear by that time, the vote fraud/amnesty/executive order/judicial fiat/race card games will have Zero's cult fully entrenched. The worship of him and socialism is already entrenched in the federal bureaucracy and the media. A few, I fear, even in the Republican party and on Wall Street.
When you have RURAL Senators--Democrat or not--(the Dakotas and Nebraska for instance) whose constituents detest federal intrusion in such a personal thing as health care, going against the wishes of their states in order to appease an unpopular President, then you know the game is about over.
Waiting for a CONSERVATIVE great speaker to answer with tough words to the lunatic WHITEHOUSE and other liberal-fascists who are going on promising the “promise-land”(fake)
to begging assisted crowds!

My guess is that they’ll shove amnesty for illegals down out throats next to remain in power forever. Saul Alinsky would be proud- America is at death’s door regarding her Constitution.
The idiot morons who think they are getting instant results and coverage will quickly learn, that this does NOT kick in until 2013 and 14.
The taxes alone will smother their paychecks (those fortunate enough to still have jobs) And anyone who has insurance they “want to keep” will learn that it went up 30% and the benefits will go down. Most employers will drop coverage or reduce it because the premiums will also go way up on top of the 30% tax.
Next, we get Crap & Tax, Illegal immigrant “reform” and what ever the Democrats desire.

I'm beginning to think we traded DOWN - when even the worst king died of old age, his policies died with him.
The $300 million in Medicaid funding for Louisiana and the "UNLIMITED" Medicaid funding for Nebraska are so offensive I don't know what to call them! If Democrats wanted to fund these BRIBES, they could have at least gotten the money from their lobbyists. But, no, American taxpayers, whether for or against the bill, end up paying off certain states to pass a bill that absolutely stinks of corruption.
OK, stupid question here! Can the Republicans just walk out today and go home for Christmas leaving the Dems to pass this corrupt and partisan bill without them?
I would love to see it. But, would that leave the Dems free to rewrite the bill to have even more of their graft and corruption?

Sorry to break it to you but our freedoms have been gang raped by these morons in DC (both Dem and Repubs) for decades now. What’s happening now is a more exposed showing of how much they want to destroy what America was built on.
Thank you for your excellent post and analysis. Unfortunately the volume and scope of the liberal media require great effort to overcome, even on an individual basis. Once again an illustration that the liberal politicians work in concert with the liberal media, creating, with Hollywood's help, whatever illusion is required to secure and maintain power.
Time to challenge it in court. The Government can not force people to carry health insurance. They can force people who drive on public roads to carry auto insurance but that’s a personal choice.
Ok.....so we have until 2010.....then if the dems don’t lose badly its torch and pitchforks time....but who will lead us?????
As much as our country died (but not completely!) on the day Obama took over, it initially began its death prattle when Roe v Wade was decided on January 22, 1973. With the millions of dead children now in heaven and their hardened and unrepenant mothers (and fathers!) walking this earth in great numbers (not everyone is sorry they've ended their baby's life through this heinous act), how could we expect to continue on a positive path in any direction at all?
