Reid is trying to do cram through, he has his 60. But what if, that is the question. There is a special election in Massachusetts on 01/19/2010. What if their internals are so bad that a Republican has a chance to win Teddy Kennedy's seat? What if Scott Brown actually wins in Massachusetts? Tangential to this is the age and health of Senator Byrd. These are two risks that could delay their 60 vote fillibuster proof majority. One by going back to 59 if Brown wins, and the other is all the issues that would occur if Byrd's health failed or worse, note we wish him well, but at 95 if my memory is correct, he has been in better health. I look forward to Freepers' thoughts on this.
What’s sad is that the Rat running for this seat, Martha Coakley makes Ted look moderate and somewhat likeable by comparison.

What I know about Massachusetts would fit in a thimble - but aren’t Republicans about 10% of the legislative seats there? The probability of a GOP Senator in a special election, with nothing else on the ballot would seem impossible.
The other concern is the possibility that Robert Bird may become incapacitated or depart altogether.....he is very frail.
What are you hearing on the street? Does Brown have a shot?
Coakley is very hard left and has some ethics issues, so with turnout light, who knows what could happen.
Byrd has the finest health care you and I can pay for.
There should be a manditory retirement age for Senators

Basically Brown is running a no-frills campaign on lawn signs, Twitter messages and a roll of duct tape while Coakley is cruising around the state in limos picking up endorsements and avoiding the general public as much as possible.
However, I believe Scott Brown could do a better job for himself by being a little controversial and generating some headlines. All the local talk radio shows here give him all the time he wants but he basically doesn't say much on them. He needs to take it up a couple of notches.
Can a real Republican win the senate seat in Massachusetts this time out? Yes, I believe one can. But if that person will be Scott Brown, he's going to have to get on the offensive or he's going to be crushed.

They knew that the agenda was so toxic that they would simply fall apart at the seems if they took too long. The Rats knew that they would lose their seats anyway and are playing for comnplete control. Brown is a solid candidate. It could be closer than usual. Coakley is a bad candidate.
There is a 3rd party libertarian named Kennedy that the liberal media is (what a shocker) trying to promote so he steals Brown’s base.
But from what you say, I am not encouraged. If so Steele, is a major loser for not taking this to the wall especially after the Hoffman mess.
