Well be blunt.
The health care reform legislation under consideration in the Senate is the most corrupt piece of legislation in our nations history. Yes, we understand that is a strong statement and there have been other abominations throughout our nations life. But never before did corrupt legislation threaten to radically and forever change the lives of every American.
Exhibit A is the outright bribe extracted by Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Corn Huckster State) from Sen. Harry Reid. As a result of Nelsons performance in his role of Hamlet in the health care deliberations, we will have two health care systems in this country; one for Nebraska and one for the other 49 states.
In its quixotic attempt to ensure everyone has health insurance, the Reid legislation greatly expands Medicaid eligibility. Because Medicaid is a program whose costs are split between the federal and state governments, this expansion in eligibility raise costs dramatically for states. States will be forced to either raise taxes or cut other services to accommodate the forced increase in Medicaid spending.
Unless that state is Nebraska.
Below is the text for Nelsons bribe. Under this language the federal government will forever cover the costs of Medicaid expansion in Nebraska. Taxpayers in every other state will forever be responsible for the expanded Medicaid program in Nebraska.
Outrageous doesnt do justice to describe this situation. Sen. Nelson also secured an exemption from a new insurance tax for non-profit companies in his state. Mutual of Omaha and Nebraskas Blue Cross/Blue Shield wont have to pay a tax other companies will be required to pay.

I just looked up and read the 14th Amendment. This clause scares me
“except for participation in rebellion”
Somebody who knows more please reassure me about this.

” Even assuming, arguendo, that your comment is correct, if the insurance industry must accept ALL applicants, and cannot restrict or deny pre-existing conditions, the industry will collapse within 24 months”
It troubles me that I haven’t heard more about this. With all the unemployment woes, have they not given any consideration to how many people work in the “hated” insurance industry?
To: fullchroma
Why would Nebraska not put every citizen on medicaid, save them the price of insurance premiums, and let the other 49 pull the load? This is despicable. I had thought better of nelson.
To: Syncro
Not to mention the enormous tax on ALL medical equipment.Right down to your personal toothbrush. I shit you not. This is very discouraging.
To: Syncro
And those same 60 senators will not be covered by this!
To: Secret Agent Man
Hummmmmmm. I could move to Falls City and not be far from home! Thanks for the idea.

I e-mailed both of my Senators, one R, one d, and told them I am not happy with having to cover Nebraska's taxes on Medicare.
I POLITELY asked the R to inform the d that this special deal will cost every taxpayer in Alaska money. I also asked her to inform the d that repurcussions for raising taxes on his constituents might be worse than what Reid and Odumbo can dish out.

I was reading a thread last night (I don’t recall if I commented on that thread) and your comments predicted this ‘rat would fold and I remember agreeing with you in my mind.

All that aside, the Reid amendment read today on the Senate floor is in clear violation of the Hyde amendment of 1976.

Im fron Nebraska originally and when I ask people in good conservative Red states like Nebraska and Iowa why in hell they elect so-called Conservative Democrats like Nelson, the answer always comes down to farm subsidiesI, also an original & usually get back once/yr. It seems, however, 98% of a good size group I associate with never have voted for him. Most people think that he is a good person. To those again my answer - there are currently no good people in the dem CONgress.

Barring an all-in revolution, I think the strong, vibrant 50-state entity that we knew years ago, last seen during the Reagan Administration is dead. Dumbed-down, Marxist-centric schools and demographics have seen to that. Obviously there are still parts of it that wish to live free, and I hope they can constitute something reminiscent of the America we once knew. No revolution IMO. The sheeple keep their TV & allocated a six-pack a day. Problem solved. If they haven't revolted by now they just won't.

This story made me feel ill today. Every one of them can be bribed and they feel no shame. I haven’t read the thread but wonder what Nebraskans feel about it all.

Nelson was doing the Statue of Liberty play
Deliberately misdirecting and then giving the ball off to somebody else
If anyone thinks that Reid, Pelosi, or Nelson will read the final thousands of pages before they vote Yea and that Obama will actually read or know what is in that bill as he signs it -
Please report to the open elevator-less door and press 13th floor

I’m sure you’re right devolve. I haven’t got to read threads today so anything I say will be repeats.
I’m sick about this and saw there are several huge threads about it and everyone is furious.
The dems timed it smartly. They plan to vote on Christmas Eve, which doesn’t leave much time for people to rant about it, especially since they are busy with Christmas.

Christmas Eve vote
Another version of the late Friday document dump
Correct - people will be so busy and tired or partying - the vast majority (Christians) will not comprehend what has been done to them and theirs - until it is way to late
November 3rd 2010 will be far in the future and few will even blame Hussy Junior and the radical Socialist Congress
