WASHINGTON – Congressional budget scorekeepers say the latest Democratic health care bill would cover 94 percent of eligible Americans while reducing the federal deficit.

The Congressional Budget Office said Saturday the changes announced by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid would cut the deficit by an additional $2 billion, bringing the 10-year total reduction to $132 billion.

The nearly $900 billion bill would be paid for by $483 billion in cuts to Medicare and other federal health programs, as well as tax increases.

...

It would leave 23 million people still uninsured in 2019.

We can only hope the GOP wins in 2010 so we can cut off funding. I doubt we will have enough to repeal this.

Wake me up when the GOP has any stones.

This bill "covers" millions by FORCING them to buy health insurance!

What a crock.

(AFX UK Focus) 2009-12-19 17:26 Revised Senate health bill cuts US deficit-CBO

http://www.iii.co.uk/news/?type=afxnews&articleid=7678693&subject=economic&action=article

WASHINGTON, Dec 19 (Reuters) - The revised healthcare overhaul in the U.S. Senate would cut the federal deficit by $132 billion over 10 years, non-partisan budget analysts said on Saturday. The Congressional Budget Office also said the bill as revised by Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid would have coverage costs of $871 billion over 10 years. Both figures meet President Barack Obama’s goal of cutting the deficit and having a total cost of about $900 billion over 10 years. The rosy report card could help the proposal gain support.

94 percent of eligible Americans

Why aren't ALL Americans eligible? What the heck does this parsing mean? Is there a Clinton in charge of this calculation?

The narrative has already begun. These numbers will be used by the media to herald an unprecedented breakthrough, praising Leroy Brown for his leadership. His approval rating will ratchet back up in the next few weeks.

The current level of Medicare unfunded liabilities is $74 trillion. Of course expanding health care to everyone will only make that number drop. (Heavy dose of sarcasm)

I love how the AP takes advantage of the fact that most idiots only read the first line or two of any news article, and fails to mention the fact that the bill will cost much more money than it ostensibly saves until later.

With this flawed logic, if we were to cover Mexico and the rest of Central American and all of South America, we’d have incredible profits. America could shut down every other business in America and just offer “healthcare” to other nations.

This is nothing more than another, wet, steaming pile of crap.

It is socialized medicine, end of story.

And they are jamming down our throats the same way they always socialize vast segments of our country, by lies and promises and threats.

The American Revolution was launched after far less than what these effing communists have done in 2009.

The (unconstitutional) forced coverage is necessary for the pre-existing condition requirement. For two reasons:

1) Since you wouldn’t have to buy it until after you needed it, people have to be forced to buy it before.

2) In order to pay for the loss on covering pre-existing conditions, more no-claims people (young, healthy..) have to pay in premiums.

If memory serves, 94% is not enough to pay for pre-existing coverage (this is why the insurance companies backed out of support).

Therefore, either premiums go way up or insurers get out of the business.

Therefore, either premiums go way up or insurers get out of the business.

Or the government subsidizes it.

Yeah, it’s not like the taxpayers of their own states are going to be footing the bill. It’s a win-win for the corrupt rats.

I have read more than a few on message boards both left and right stating that they will go to jail before they buy insurance by force. I only wish that they meant it.
