Politico reports:
Sen. Mary Landrieu got the "Louisiana Purchase." Sen. Ben Nelson got the federal government to pick up most his state's future Medicaid tab -- forever. As part of the deal to win Nelson's support, the federal government will fund Nebraska's new Medicaid recipients. It's a provision worth about $45 million over the first decade.
Also from John McCormack...
Nelson Agrees to Abortion Funding in at Least 13 States?
Harry Reid has released the manager's amendment that Ben Nelson has reportedly agreed to vote for, meaning that the Senate bill has 60 votes. The abortion language includes the phony segregation of funding language that was rejected in the House. It would allow individual states to opt out of the abortion-funding program--in other words, the default position is to pay for abortions; states would have to pass legislation to not fund abortions. But states where public abortion-funding is mandated by state court rulings would be required to pay for abortions:
(1) NO PREEMPTION OF STATE LAWS REGARDING ABORTION.Nothing in this Act shall be construed to preempt or otherwise have any effect on State laws regarding the prohibition of (or requirement of) coverage, funding, or procedural requirements on abortions, including parental notification or consent for the performance of an abortion on a minor.
There are 13 states where the state supreme court has required public abortion funding according to this map from the ACLU (assuming it's up to date). Four states have decided through their legislatures to pay for Medicaid abortions. So Ben Nelson is going to allow federal tax dollars to pay for abortions in California and New York?
Well if you voted for McCain, then obviously the remark doesn’t apply. So no need to choke on any more vomit. Better get that checked out. Could be acid reflux. I don’t recall the GOP as a whole hating Reagan. He did, afterall, run as the GOP candidate.
The bottom line is that if a person of the right failed to vote for McCain in the last election out of ideological purity, he/she is as responsible for this obama debacle as any Obama voter is. I wasn’t a big fan of McCain either, but if you weren’t terrified of the alternative and couldn’t find a reason to pull the McCain lever you (ok, not you Psalm) are worse than a fool - you are complicit.
We've had our answer, many times, many ways with the Dems in power. We won't be able to stop amnesty or cap-and-trade either.
Also, realize the media played up Nelson's "defection" as more than it was as part of their hand-in-hand with the Left strategy. Get your hopes up in this regime and they will be crushed.
Nelson’s price should be his job.
You got to love the "post-partisan America" we now live in.
Pinch me so I wake up -- this HAS TO be a really bad dream...
Judas Ben-Nelson (D-Iscariot).

give the sellout a little piece of your mind. blast him and retweet your blasts so everyone sees them.
Maybe we should elect some people who aren’t for sale.
Fair enough.
The one on the left by comparison to the one on the right. You do a disservice to the man on the left.He was only a killer and a thief.
Don’t bet on it. 45 mil isn’t even real money in the eyes of every senator. Besides, even if they wanted to fix this, their idea of a fix would be to get their states in on the gravy train as well.
They have all seen the polls. They know how the American people feel. They don't care because they don't believe the "people" will do anything when it comes to crunch time, like voting them out of office.
We will see.
Maybe we should elect some people who arent for sale.
Good idea IT!
You got the short list?
Unfortunately there probably isn't a long list.
But you are 100% correct, that's the answer and the only way to go.
“So there we have it. Ben Nelson is a liar, a phony, and a sell-out”
And a friggin’ whore.
Translated: "We've heard enough from you lowly rubes. We are extremely important people and no longer care to deal with you, so away with you peasants."
>But please, there are many solid conservative Republicans that have fought and continue to fight against the Obama agenda. They need our support.<
I live in NY, unfortunately, there is NO republicans that are solid here.
Well unfortunately I have played by the rules and only vote in one precinct.
But I vote for every election, that is from local state and federal.
He’s an arrogant, pompous bastard. He’s got three years to make everyone forget this fight.
And they will. :)
What makes Nebraska more equal than the other 49 states. Why should we pay for your medicaid? Nebraska’s Senator sold out Nebraska and put all of your citizens and businesses in a very precarious situation. Why should anyone do business with a state that doesn’t pay its way? So B. Nelson has successfully made sure that his state won’t feel the affects of part of this bill - wow. How principled!?!?!
Nebraska is now isolated - why should its neighbors or anyone else want to compete with its businesses - you have an unfair advantage - Nebraska doesn’t have to come up with the 100s of millions for medicaid that the rest of us will. In fact - we will have to come up with that money for Nebraska. I thought that Nebraska was a conservative state. A state filled with hard working fair minded people. The way the people of Nebraska are being portrayed by their elected Senator does not reflect that image.
Tell Ben that Nebraska cannot be bought - do it loudly - let the rest of us know that you are who we know you to be.
