Agree with others who have posted here. The end of America is now complete. And anybody who thinks the November 2010 elections will offer an opportunity to change anything - get your heads out of the sand. Once they pass the Amnesty Bill - and they will - all of those illegals, and their vast numbers of relatives who will be allowed to walk into the USA anytime they want to.

I can't help but agree that our Republic is in extreme danger by virtue a potential amnesty bill.

The question is do we have enough numbers to change the paradigm come Nov 2010.

If we use the Presidential election as the base line, we would need to reverse about 7% of the electorate. The recent gubernatorial elections indicate that enough voters have become disenchanted with liberals to swing our way, about 14%.

Another question to ponder is what effect will the passage of the health-care bill have at the voting booth? I see two silver linings in the passage. First, seniors are already steamed, not a small constituency in number, but very large in its capacity to contribute. Secondly, when young people realize that it will be mandated as part of this bill that they purchase health insurance, and they realize they will be paying for oldsters, they will have a visceral reaction. This is no small cohort of voters either.

Our economy is creating a situation whereby thousands upon thousands of illegals have been going back home, and will continue to do so. Needless to say, far fewer are now coming here for the same reason. I believe this fact mitigates against any huge voting booth benefit, EVEN IF an immigration bill with amnesty and voting rights were to pass.

It's a close call. I believe we will vote these people out because people are tired of being duped, and tired of being ignored, so the emotion will be a factor also.

When the sleigh is heavy
And the timber wolves are getting bold
You look at your companions and test
The water of their friendship with your toe
And they significantly edge
Closer to the gold
Each man has his price, Bob
And yours was pretty low.

I do wish a huge crowd of protestors would gather outside Nelson’s offices in NE this afternoon. Now is the time to show this creep how the people of NE feel about this sell-out.

Why is everyone complaining about this. I seem to remember before the election a large number of Freepers, and Conservatives in general, that decided it would be better to sit out the election and let Barry win because they would not vote for McCain and wanted to “show the Republican party”.

Well, you got what you wanted. Barry is doing exactly what he said he would do and the brain-dead Democrats are in lock-step behind him. And YOU showed the Republican party.

This country is going to HE-double L in a hand-basket and you set it up. You made your bed so stop crying about it.

Lots of populist farmers who love their ag subsidies. Also, the Scandinavian heritage - what is it about Swedes and socialism?

“it’s time for a tax revolt. if we don’t send them the money, they have nothing to spend. it’s our only defense now.’

I’ve been saying this for a long time. It appears the ONLY way these people will get the message of how serious we are is for the TAXPAYERS to absolutely cut off the money. It has to be a massive revolt.

This is why Obama, Pelosi, et al wanted this so bad. We are now on the road to HARD COMMUNISM (with an elite class of leading billionaire Democrats) and it will just get worse and worse.

They had better have high walled fortresses that they never come out from.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

“It is a ruling elite problem, not a Dem/Repub thing.”

I will never again vote for an Ivy League grad or the child of a politician unless there is strong evidence that they believe in the Constitution and are strict constructionists.

$100 million to the University of Nebraska
The latest amendment announced today which Ben Nelson agreed to has the following:

SEC. 10502. INFRASTRUCTURE TO EXPAND ACCESS TO CARE.
16 (a) APPROPRIATION.—There are authorized to be
appropriated, and there are appropriated to the Department
of Health and Human Services, $100,000,000 for fiscal
year 2010, to remain available for obligation until
September 30, 2011, to be used for debt service on, or direct
construction or renovation of, a health care facility that
provides research, inpatient tertiary care, or outpatient
clinical services. Such facility shall be affiliated with an
academic health center at a public research university in
the United States that contains a State’s sole public academic
medical and dental school.

Sounds a lot like the new Innovation Campus project going on at the University of Nebraska:

http://innovate.unl.edu/

Which reads:
The purpose of Nebraska Innovation Campus is to develop a premier private/public-sector sustainable research campus, which capitalizes on research growth and expertise of UNL faculty.
