Holy craptards.
McConnell is having Reid's amendment read out loud.
Does this mean that Colburn and DeMint will get the whole bill read out loud?
If the R's do this, I'll be impressed. I never thought they had the balls.

Senate approves FY 2010 Defense spending bill, 88-10. Sen. Feingold was the only democrat to vote no, along with 9 republicans. Majority Ldr. Reids (D-NV) managers amendment to the health bill is being read. Senators are still waiting on a CBO score, or cost assessment of the compromise legislation contained in the amendment.Which 9 dipsticks voted "NO"? Or, didn't they understand the question?

“They” (the Republicans) don’t. But McConnell, Colburn and DeMint do!

I think the plan is to read everything in it’s entirety from here on out. I don’t think they can stall long enough to delay until after Christmas though. Maybe they could have if they hadn’t allowed the Jeffords amendment to be pulled or KB Hutchison hadn’t destroyed the filibuster of the defense bill.

I’m not sure how long it will take to read the manager’s amendment. I know it is over 700 pages long. It would have to take several hours at the least.
I don’t know if any Senator then has the right to have the entire bill read out loud once the manager’s amendment is included in the bill.

Let me tell you something, if the Republican’s somehow pull off this “whole reading” of both this amendment and the bill (and over the holidays, no less!) I swear on the head of my only child that I will send these turkey’s a thousand dollar campaign contribution.
Out of sheer shock....

I understand they can have the ENTIRE Bill read out loud and then have parts of it "they don't understand" read again. LOL.
Kill the Bill!

Anyone knbow how long the “amendment” is?
Does this significantly mess up Reid’s “Santa in the Senate” timetable and to what extent?

Watch the firestorm of "see how obstructive the republicans are" coming from the MSM and Reid's insipid mouth.
I really am surprised that so many dems voted for this.
I wouldn't be surprised if Reid has some trick lined up after this. Like, "We read it. You can't say you don't know what's in it. Now, let's vote".

Before the reading of the manager’s amendment, Reid wanted Ben Nelson to have nine minutes to speak. I don’t know what he was going to say.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he came out in favor of the bill. As we know, he will probably cave.

And when might we get a CBO score slash cost assessment of the cost of this monstrosity?

Harry is going to pull a fast one today. Mark my words. He is waiting for the Reps. The one the other day was just a warm up.

Which 9 dipsticks voted "NO"? Or, didn't they understand the question? ICBW, but I think the "NO" votes were about the add-ons to the bill.....unemployment extension etc.

I have emailed my support to Senator McConnell. Others might consider doing so.

Listening to this can anyone else believe that in, perhaps only in the verbiage used, we need to ban all lawyers from the halls of congress, and for that matter all “public office” or government employment. Seriously, all reading this thread, should go to the link and listen, while it is being read, for only 3 full minutes.
Warning: Listening to this for longer than 3 full minutes may result in brain death and loss of all bodily fluids!

If Reid wanted Nelson to speak it’s possible Ben will cave but I haven’t heard anything regarding an amendment prohibiting Federal funding for abortion and Nelson has staked everything on that requirement. If he caved for some pork goodies he would be the biggest hypocrite in the Senate and that’s saying something.
