If we do enter a period of prolonged cooling, the only economies that will produce productivity rates that can handle the extra burdens of prolonged cold weather, will be the economies possessing the most free economic markets. The centrally planned and Marxist controlled economies will collapse under the weight of the added burden of cold. Heck, these Marxists economies normally operate on the verge of collapse. So in the end, capitalism keeps us warm, while Marxism freezes the Marxist rock solid. Now that, my friend, is poetic justice.
