Ever notice how the church attendance grows on Christmas and Easter?

I’ll be ushering on Christmas Eve - and won’t know but about half the people who show up!

Jehovah-Jireh
Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. —Matthew 6:8

In my early years as a pastor, I served in small churches where finances were often tight. Sometimes our family finances felt the weight of that pressure. On one occasion, we were down to the last of our food and payday was still several days away. While my wife and I fretted about how we would feed our kids in the next few days, our doorbell rang. When we opened the door, we discovered two bags of groceries. We had not told anyone of our plight, yet our provider God had led someone to meet that need.

This reminds me of the Old Testament account of Abraham when he was asked to sacrifice his son Isaac. At just the right moment, God provided a ram instead. Abraham called this place Jehovah-Jireh, “The-Lord-Will-Provide” (Gen. 22:14). He is the One who still cares deeply for His children.

Jesus said, “Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him” (Matt. 6:8). He is constantly caring for and seeking the best for us—a reminder that in times of hardship, need, and fear, we have Someone who cares. Peter wrote that we can cast all our cares upon Jesus, because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We can turn to Him in our time of need.

I know not by what methods rare
The Lord provides for me;
I only know that all my needs
He meets so graciously. —Adams

What God promises, God will provide.

My friendly IT guy unblocked the 3 sites I requested. No fotki, etc, but my own sites and FREE REPUBLIC!! I promised to be a responsible internet user. He said I already was...that made me feel good.

I did take my laptop and the internet thingy to work...connected easily. So now I have back up if need be, altho I’m NOT taking my laptop back and forth each day. Man, it’s heavy!

I took my car into the fixit shop this morning. For the last week it has decided that it can quit without warning, anywhere it feels like it. This morning it decided to quit, on the way to the mechanic, in one of the busiest intersections in town, in mid turn onto another street. Heart pounding, it started first try and I was able to get it into gear and moving before it quite had time to quit again. He gave me a loaner almost out of gas. No problem, only a little way to and fro. He called me at lunch (we were in Lonestar...the Finance Department boss took the department out to lunch).

The E*V is bad...some kind of valve that recycles (?) the gas. All I know is that he couldn’t find one in Alaska...one will get here Monday. Sooooo....not knowing anything about what I was driving...a Ford Explorer, I took the afternoon off to get gas, figure out the heater, defroster, adjustment of the driver’s seat...most uncomfortable to begin, but I finally figured out all the buttons, etc. AND, it fits in the garage....all the snow and ice will be melted by morning, and it will be warm.

Did you serge today?

The car stopping in the intersection really spooked me. It was right in front of the oncoming car lanes.

Maybe someone else knows.

Our troops DO rock....and amidst all the bad stuff, they are always compassionate. This family will never forget the kindness of the North Carolina National Guard.

My daughter’s house..I haven’t been home for almost 3 weeks..nothing done..and I may have a turkey sandwich for Christmas dinner..LOL
My daughter is moving and in the midst of editing, sorting, packing..She and her husband are taking me home tomorrow and going on to meet a builder who is going to correct some flaws in their new home.
My son wants me there for Christmas but I just want to be home this year..
I still have a backache.
