Perry jokes that former buddy Al Gore has "gone to hell" on climate change issue
Dallas Morning News ^ | 12/16/2009 | Gromer Jeffers Jr.

Rick Perry doesn't like to talk about his days as a Democrat, particularly his role in 1988 as the head of Al Gore's presidential campaign in Texas.

But on Wednesday, after he accepted and endorsement from a group of builders in Dallas, I managed to get out a question about his relationship with Gore and where each stands on Gore's pet issue of climate change.

"I certainly got religion," Perry said. "I think he's gone to hell." That drew big laughs from the construction types gathered for Perry's appearance.

Perry sounds like a store-front preacher discussing the issue. Hear it by clicking here.

One of the ironies of life is the fact that during the past 5 years, the information coming from Russia and China on global warming and economics is far more believable than that coming from the Kenyan Klod Kollection of Krooks.

This guy used to be a democrat?

The guy was bred/born a democrat in Paint Creek, Texas. His father was an elected democrat at the local level and Rick was elected as a democrat to the Texas House in 1984 and then in 1990 as Ag. Commissioner. In 1998 he left the Ag job and converted to the GOP and was elected Lt. Gov. He assumed the governorship when GW Bush resigned in Dec. 2000 and will have served 10 years when this term is up.

It is actually somewhat "normal" for a person to leave the 'rat party and become a republican. If more of the old "Scoop Jackson" democrats were still alive, they probably would, too.

It's not "normal" to become more liberal or more socialist, unless you are a complete sellout. Gore used to be pro-life. People often leave the pro-choice side to become pro-life, but it is rare to do the opposite as Gore did, unless you are a complete phony and opportunist.

Ain’t been many years since no one with an R by their name could get elected to Dog Catcher in Texas, same as Louisiana and other Southern States.

The real joke is that people actually think that Rick Perry is a conservative.....this guy is a bed-wetting Liberal Globalist.

You never lose your Liberal if you are aiding an Al Gore campaign. Never. Read my words....before Perry takes your property and gives it to an illegal alien trucker....

The guy supported Mondale over Reagan and then Gore. He was still a democrat 10 years after the Reagan Revolution and long after most had switched parties.
