J.D. Hayworth yesterday took to the airwaves to pummel Grant Woods for filing a complaint with the FEC against the talk show host and potential Senate candidate. Woods alleged Hayworth is pulling in $540,000 a week in corporate in-kind contributions from KFYI/Clear Channel for using his show as a campaign platform.
The response came in true talk show form as Hayworth called Woods an ambulance chaser who cashed in on a tobacco settlement lawsuit that was sold as a public health measure. Youre even lower than some bacterial forms of algae, and thats saying something, Hayworth said, before chiding Woods and the McCain camp for leaking a GOP push poll to the Republic that showed the Senate maverick enjoyed a 20-point lead over J.D. Last month, Rasmussen polling showed the pair in almost a dead heat.
Yet, Hayworth dared the Woods-McCain tandem to release their own internal polling. What are you guys afraid of? asked Hayworth, who has yet to declare his candidacy.
Whether you support Hayworth or McCain this is a stupid move on the part of a McCain supporter.
Meanwhile, Juan McCain and all congressional incumbents use their office as a year round campaign platform worth far more than any local radio show.
But it’s true, what he says about Grant Woods. Never met a smarmier pol than Grant Woods.
Apologies to bacterial algae everywhere.
I really hope Hayworth runs and Wins big.
Hayworth IN McCain OUT....2010
It's a win-win situation. McCain has to veer to the right for several months during a critical legislative period, or Hayworth wins. I'm betting the good folks of AZ will see through McCain's charade, just as TX Pubs will see through Hutchison's temporary rightward shift.
Hayworth having fun tweaking McCain’s thugs ;-)
Thanks for posting the excerpt, and not just the headline - couldn’t figure out why JD would have a problem with “American Gothic”, but it’s all clear now.
So would I.
Geez, what has Hayworth got against bacterial algae?
