Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is scheduled to meet privately Wednesday evening with top administration climate aide Carol Browner.
Graham is working with Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) to craft a bipartisan cap and trade bill.
He plans to discuss the ways Senate leaders can deal with manufacturing and coal state worries that the bill will spike electricity bills in the midst of a deep recession.
“We’ve got to address people’s concerns about compliance costs and rate payer increases,” he told POLITICO.
He’ll also use the meaning to address nuclear power, off-shore drilling and new coal technologies — all controversial ideas among the environmental community.
Graham expects to roll out more details of his bipartisan climate bill early next year.
“After the holidays, hopefully, we’ll start putting things together here,” said Graham.
In Copenhagen on Wednesday, Kerry said passage of the bill could happen as early as June.
Browner postponed her trip to Copenhagen to roll out green jobs and energy efficiency initiatives in Washington. She plans to fly to the Danish capital on Friday with President Barack Obama.

That Lindsey Graham. He sure knows how to get out in front of issues just when they are dying.
Graham’s continued support for AGW in light of ClimateGate is a contraindication of the man’s intelligence.

I have been wondering for a while why Graham was being so dumb on this. And I have concluded something close to what you wrote. I think Graham believes:
1. The cap and trade bill is dead.
2. He can pretend to be reaching across the aisle to the Dims.
3. This will make Dims not hate him as much as they do other GOPers, get him better press, and have the Dims put up only token opposition to him in the future.
It is a gambles, but cap and trade is pretty much dead. So he can try to look “moderate” to Dims and get good press on this and other issues from them. Pretty cynical, but he is either this cynical or really really stupid.
In Graham's case it's not about intelligence or the lack there of, it's about blackmail.

Graham is the poster child/boy/girl for everything that is wrong with the Republican party.
The party and the USA will not survive as long as RINOS like this get reelected.
There is no change except what is in your mind. If you do not accept the changes then we will win in 2010 and boot this folks out. There is hope and it is not accepting this idea of change.

Yes, everyone knows and he is not fooling anyone, but the MSM hasn't made it official yet. The MSM starts pounding on it day in and day out, he's a goner. That is what the Rats are holding over his head.
