Declaring that she was honored and proud to run with him, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.
The website TMZ accused Palin of a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain during a Hawaii vacation this week: Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.
But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to be incognito -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.
The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.
Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."
The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to save it.
“I cant imagine why anyone would be surprised by Sarahs 100% support for John McCain.”
LOL. No. Not those that support her, at least.
Are all her real supporters happy about it? Maybe not. But I honestly think that she does needs McCain as much as he needs her, for the time being. Hence her strong response (and in large part loyality and gratitude).
Exactly, that’s why I said, if she disparages McCain, it’s a story. If she says nothing, it’s a story. And if she just says something nice, it’s a story. No matter what she does some people won’t be happy. She has given two political contributions as well: $5,000 to John McCain, and $5,000 Lisa Murkowski.
I didn’t expect Sarah to trash him, but I didn’t expect her to say she backed him 100% either.
That’s true.
This is true.
I think so many are use to back stabbers in politics
and Sarah is up front.
Sarah is not a supporter for StormFronter Sincox
I’ve been anticipating this. Admittedly, I have also been hoping she could somehow avoid the AZ race, but I knew he would eventually call on her. Turns out, he didn’t have to, or maybe he did ask for her support when they dined together in Washington, D.C. recently.
“Admittedly, I have also been hoping she could somehow avoid the AZ race, but I knew he would eventually call on her. Turns out, he didnt have to, or maybe he did ask for her support when they dined together in Washington, D.C. recently.”
I agree, re Az race, but most knew she wouldn’t ever support anybody against McCain.
And good point, maybe she has been asked.
But I think that there is an element of mutual benefit here too. Although Palin can win on her own, can change the Republican party for the better (conservative), she cannot do it all on her own, in a couple of years. Reagan couldn’t do it.
I don’t like him, but McCain has clout within the Republican party, and with the electorate.
Now this isn’t all or even mainly just political play on Palin’s part. I think there is genuine respect for McCain the man (she is very supportive of ALL servicemen and women, it is heartfelt), and some loyalty to him as his VP nominee.
Here is the bottom line.
Palin supports McCain over StormFronter Simcox (this is supposed to be bad)
Ron Paul supports mass murderer, anti American, anti anyone who is not Muslim with leave him alone, and the Paulites cheer.
Thanks for the ping! Ha! After trashing Sarah for being a shopaholic diva, the media is now trashing her for thriftily recycling her out-of-date McCain visor.
That's because Hannity is an idiot.
I've heard him speak in person, unfortunately; all he does is parrot the RNC talking points.
At least Rush has intelligence and a mind of his own.
I agree. But this one is hard...
Victoria, Ron Paul is a wingnut, but what does that have to do with the topic on this thread? Did he say he backed McCain 100%?
Paul is being raised here to dismiss the comments of people who disagree with Palin. It’s an old tactic and not worthy of an honest discussion.
Will trade you McCain for Boxer and Feinstein.
I'm not sure whether to take this as a shot across the bow to JD Hayworth or not. I hope JD enters the primary race and I hope Sarah lets the primary play out. She can send regrets --- conflicting schedule, etc.
No matter the candidate of our choice, we're not always going to agree with that candidate 100% and in the realm of all things considered, this is neither a biggie nor a surprise for me.
Because the people trashing Palin are Ron Paul wingnuts
She’s Sarah America. She’s not into petty politics and that alone is another reason she is super special.
There’s a lot in what you said too.
There’s also wisdom in dancing with the guy who brought you to the dance.
McCain brought her onto the nation stage which she now OWNS, so it’s okay with me that she feels she owes him a last dance or two. :)
You are correct.
She went into government to clean out the corrupt in both parties and to move her state along.
I hear you, Hildy, but the election will still be decided by you all in AZ. The primary is the big deal. If JD doesn’t run, do you want Simcox? From everything I’ve read, Simcox doesn’t have much of a chance.
In the general election, wouldn’t you prefer McCain over the democrat?
