NEW BRUNSWICK -- Bruce Springsteen doesn't share Chris Christie's views on gay marriage and he won't play at the governor-elect's inauguration, but Christie says there's no hard feelings about the Boss' politics or his State Street freeze out. "Obviously, two bad decisions on his part," Christie joked Monday after a meeting at Rutgers University with the leaders of several New Jersey colleges and universities.
"Bruce and I don't agree on certain things politically -- big shock," the Republican added. "But it doesn't diminish at all my enjoyment of him as an artist and a performer." For the record, Springsteen is unaffiliated with either of the two major parties, according to a state voter-registration database, but he has publicly leaned left and last year endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president. Last week, the singer announced his support for legalizing gay marriage in New Jersey.
"This is where the people of New Jersey obviously have differences of opinion," Christie, who opposes same sex marriage, said Monday. "There are lots of people who feel very strongly about same sex marriage and believe it should be the law of the state, and there are lots of folks like me who believe that it shouldn't. "The fact that Bruce believes that, that's his right," he continued. "But by the same token, it's my right to believe what I want to believe, too."
The incoming governor also noted there's still plenty of debate ahead about gay marriage. Legislation allowing it has passed a Senate committee and awaits a hearing in the Assembly. Gov. Jon Corzine has said he will sign the bill into law -- but for that to happen it must land on his desk before his term expires at noon on Jan. 19.
Nope. - Not by a long shot.
Doesn’t anyone else find it ironic that a ‘woman’ DA would support the MURDER of children in the womb?????? Exactly how the hell do you find justice in that?
Or those fake “cool” looks he’d try to give on his videos
No you are not.
Oh dear. I’ve never seen one of his videos. lol Hated his music so I never watched one. :-)
“I’ve never gotten the whole New Jersey music scene - Springsteen, Bon Jovi, lots and lots of boring, over-produced power ballads.”
Of course you have left out ONE very important member of that New Jersey music scene.
The incomparable Jersey Boys,
Frankie-Bob-Tom-Nick
The Four Seasons
Never like Springsteen music or the concert clips I’ve seen. His on-stage behavior seems so mannered or something.
Who cares about BS. I don’t see his singing is all great. His voice along with the face he makes when singing looks like he is CONSTIPATED.
“Ive never seen one of his videos.”
* * *
I’m not a Bruce fan, but there is that one video of his in which courteney cox came out of the audience and on to the stage, and was “discovered” from that appearance. Just an interesting factoid, imo.
You’re right. I did see that. But I couldn’t tell you what the song was. lol

Christie is lucky. Check this out to see the type of person Bruce performs for.

You’re not alone - I can’t stand the guy and never could.
"Obviously, two bad decisions on his part," Christie joked Monday after a meeting at Rutgers University with the leaders of several New Jersey colleges and universities. "Bruce and I don't agree on certain things politically -- big shock," the Republican added. "But it doesn't diminish at all my enjoyment of him as an artist and a performer."Well, in my own way, I have to agree. :')
The simple fact that Cristie said this “”There are lots of people who feel very strongly about same sex marriage and believe it should be the law of the state” is a red flag.
Yes. Its amazing how many people think that BS is Jewish, when he is actually Dutch/Italian and Catholic. It’s SpringSTEEN not SpringSTEIN folks!
Dancing in the Dark
(I checked on youtube, I surely didn’t know that off the top of my head.)
lol, I was going to put that in my comments but just wanted people to figure it out for themselves with the st. rose of Lima comment....
See, if people in the usa lived in a diverse area like NJ, they would know that names with a double vowel like his are usually Dutch.
There are people who still think Jon corzine is Jewish because he spells his first name the Jewish way. Had they read the newspapers during the senate race between franks and corzine, they would have read that they were both a member of the same church in summit, the United Church of Christ.
Nope, I grew up in the ‘70s and ‘80s and thought he was a big jerk.
